Watch them fall To their knees As I lay I think I'm flatlining Watch them fall Thick as thieves As I lay I think I'm flatlining
Finally, escaped from the confines of RiverClan camp. The accusing eyes, the loud praise, the whispered rumours, the victorious cheers... The mixture of confusion, joy, resentment and praise was all too much. Some cats disagreed with what had been done to ShadowClan. Mouse-brains. Didn't they see what Cranefeather saw? How could they be so blind? This was the only way to unite the forest. To save all their lives. Lose a few, keep many. If they didn't listen, that was what was going to happen. Of course, there were the sensible, wise cats who saw Cranefeather's point of view. Or didn't care, and were just happy to have a victory, no matter how one-sided the battle was. Soon, I will begin the next step in the plan. I need to get rid of Duskstar and, as much as I dislike this, my Riverstar. Duskstar will be easy. He is a lot stronger than me, but his Clan trust him even less than RiverClan trust me. All it will take is a little push, and he's gone. As for Riverstar... I'll have to get my paws dirty here. I don't want to kill her... She is my mate. I'll have her exiled. I'll manipulate RiverClan into thinking I am young, led astray by Riverstar's ambitions. It was all her idea to take over the forest. Then, I'll be hailed as a good kind cat. I'll let ShadowClan move back into their territory... For a price, perhaps. I'll subtly introduce new ideas and fears, because I will be in control. They will all crumble! Cranefeather drew back his lips savagely. A mimic of a smile. A challenge to the world. Nobody could beat Cranefeather, the dominant force in this forest. He was victorious! The forest was his for the taking whenever he wanted it. His kits would each rule their own section of the Clan. Four leaders, ruled by one. Him. Ah... this was going to be beautiful. He glared over the Gorge, as if he narrowed his eyes enough, he would be able to see all the way to WindClan's camp. The remaining ShadowClan cats, who unexpectedly escaped, were no doubt resting and licking their wounds. Getting ready for the next onslaught. This time, there would be nowhere to hide.
[OOC;] Eheh... sorry, that was a rant... I just needed to get Cranefeather's plans all sorted out from his perspective. All good now ^^

Dawnfire
Dawnfire woke and yawned, blibking her eyes to get used to the sunliight seeping into the warriors den. Reluctantly, he stood up and stretched before padding into camp. She needed some fresh air, so she decided to go to the gorge. She wondered about the recent battle. Really, she was split in half. She disagreed about attacking Shadowclan, but somehow supported Cranefeather. At least she thought she did, she had joined the others in yowling in victory after all. But she still disliked the idea of hurting other cats, but it had been her duty as a warrior. She walked around enjoying the soft crunching of the leaves beneath her pads. She soon spotted Cranefeather and silently but hurriedly hid in the undergrowth. She had always had a crush on Cranefeather to an extent, but he was probably unavailable. Dawnfire had no way of knowing since she had been a bit distant from her fellow clanmates after the death of both her parents. Of course, she ad become close with them again recently. She silently padded backward, on to push a small pebble and send it tumbling. 'Mousedung! Now he probably heard me.' But Dawnfire kept quiet and still for the possibility that Cranefeather did not hear her. 'Of course my blue and silver coat will probably give me away. *sigh* I guess even the best things make you have to pay the price sometimes.'

A pebble?! Cranefeather flinched inwardly, but showed no sign of fear on the outside. He, soon to be ruler of the forest, should not jump at a pebble rolling. Nonetheless, the outside noise had gotten his attention, so he scented before establishing a RiverClan she-cat. Well, thank goodness it wasn't Duskstar. Last time Duskstar had snuck up on him they'd both had a huge fight which Cranefeather almost lost. Duskstar cheated. That insane cat... He turned around, removing dark thoughts from hismind and plastering on his friendly face. Master of disguise and manipulation, he thought smugly. As he turned he spotted a blue and silver coat in the distance. He squinted. "Dawnfire?" he quiered. He was fairly sure that was her, few RiverClan cats had that precise colouring. "I'm sorry if I disturbed your hunting," he added as an afterthought. Although, what she would be hunting near the Gorge escaped him. Maybe a bird that flew a little too far away? Maybe a white tom that didn't watch his back! He needed to be more careful. He shouldn't have let Dawnfire sneak up on him like that.

Dawnfire
Dawnfire walked out from behind the undergrowth. Her face was heated, thank goodness Cranefeather couldn't have seen it through her fluffy fur. She inwardly smirked. 'Hunting! The perfect excuse.' Dawnfire let out a fake sigh. "No, you don't have to apoligize. By the time I saw you the vole I had been chasing for a while was gone. It wasn't your fault."Dawnfire looked at his face and thought something was funny. 'No, he's the deputy. Of course he's going to have something on his mind.' Dawnfire stared into the quick rapids below her. "That was some battle with Shadowclan huh? I'm no fan of war, but I guess it really was for the better." She truned around before looking back and swishing her tail. "I'll see you around kay?" And with that, Dawnfire was off to camp.

"Oh, better luck with the next one," Cranefeather consoled. Wait - if she wasn't chasing something, why was she hiding in the bushes? Confusion fluttered across Dawnfire's face for a split-second before chatting about the battle. "Yeah, some war," Cranefeather purred in agreement, as Dawnfire turned and left for camp. Wow, that was fast, he thought to himself. Well all the warriors are busy - on my commands - so it's not anything to worry about. Maybe I should help out a little. He scented. Dawnfire's scent was still strong. Actually... He waited until Dawnfire's silver-blue pelt was out of sight before following her tracks backwards. ...We'll see if there was a vole. Cranefeather followed the track at an easy gait for quite some tail-lengths before establishing - no vole. He took the invisible path back to the Gorge and decided to do a little hunting himself. No point in worrying myself about one little lie, he told himself. I'll worry about finding myself some food instead.
