Soulpaw quietly walked through the forest, thinking about what there was to do. She sighed. "I get I can't do advanced stuff since I became an apprentice like 1 or 2 moons ago, but come on! It's boring. There's nothing to do but go on patrol after patrol after patrol! We should at least have a competition." Soulpaw's eyes widened at her brilliant idea. "That's it! I'll have a battle competition with the other apprentices!" Soulpaw grinned deviously. "Good thing my mentor gave me special training. I'll so beat the other apprentices. So that's it. Soulpaw's battle competition is now BEGINNING! Now I just need another Thunderclan apprentice to get here...."

M O O N P A W !
Blue eyes flashing from the concealing shade of the trees. The dappled darkness was a perfect blanket. One pawstep. Another. Eyes narrowed. With a sudden bunching of muscles, the black cat sprang forwards and landed a small step away from her target. She stretched her paw... ...And batted a fair sized piece of moss off the tree's bark. Moonpaw deftly added it to the ball she was already carrying in her mouth and mewed with satisfaction. Doing all this without a mentor is hard, she thought wistfully, but I can keep going. If I can at least heal the basic injuries, I'm still doing my job. Now, however the ball was too big to carry in her mouth. Well, that was the end of 'hunting' time. Moonpaw started rolling the ball with her nose. As she rolled, she began to scent something that wasn't her ball of moss. Moonpaw looked up, and to her surprise, she saw another ThunderClan apprentice, Soulpaw. "Hi, Soulpaw!" she mewed, "what are you doing out here without your mentor?"

Soulpaw looked at Moonpaw, who had just arrived. "Oh, I wanted to start a battling competition between all the Thunderclan apprentices, but I still have to tell them about it. So my battling competition isn't really official yet." Soulpaw eyes widened, then she smirked. Still smirking, she crouched facing Moonpaw and waved her tail. "Hey Moonpaw, wanna have a battle with me?"

"StarClan! A battle competition?" Moonpaw thought that sounded like a lot of fun. She gazed around the area, her eyes wide. "This looks like a good place. Are we doing it here?" As a Medicine Cat's apprentice, Moonpaw wasn't exactly the best at battling. However, battling sounded like a lot of fun. It would be good to practice a little, anyway. How could it hurt? The injuries from the battle against ShadowClan had been mostly taken care of now, so she wouldn't be missed at all. Moonpaw focussed now on Soulpaw's smirk. She was going to wipe the smirk so far off Soulpaw's face, that... um... well she'd wipe it way off! "Be prepared," Moonpaw giggled, her tail twitching with anticipation. Claws out. Ahh, that felt good. Knead the earth a little. Yes, all ready to go. Moonpaw crouched and sprang in one fluid movement, like she'd been practicing earlier. She tried to land on Soulpaw, but missed. She scrabbled for a grip, clawing a little of Soulpaw's fur, before she thudded on the ground right at Soulpaw's feet. "Oops!" she laughed, trying to roll over so she could stand up.

Soulpaw laughed. "Don't worry, I've seen warriors make mistakes." Then Soulpaw got serious and narrowed her eyes. She crouched and sprang into the air. She aimed a paw at Moonpaw to strike a blow, but swerved downward(like a cartwheel in midair) at the last moment, making her tail lash out at Moonpaw. Not looking to see if her attack had hit, she landed on her forepaw and spun on it, pushing her hind legs out. She jumped back to the other side of their little "battlefield". She turned to Moonpaw to see if any of her attacks had hit. Soulpaw worried that her attacks might not have hit, or had injured Moonpaw badly. 'Maybe I was so quick in my movements that I didn't let them hit, or maybe when I pushed out I hurt Moonpaw.' Soulpaw shook her head. No, her mentor's training would have paid off here, and Moonpaw was strong enough to not be injured by that blow. Soulpaw tensed, ready for another attack.

Moonpaw had just gotten up when a tail brushed just past her ear and then, without warning, Soulpaw had landed and kicked out at her. She had already braced herself though, and rather than falling other, slid a tail-length, sending up a cloud of dust. While the dust was clouding the battlefield she charged at where she imagined Soulpaw was and successfully hit her head on something hard. It was either a tree, or Soulpaw. Moonpaw hoped that it was the latter. A little disoriented, Moonpaw bounded back to her previous position so when the dust cleared it'd look like she hadn't moved. The dust did clear and Moonpaw looked at herself - she was brown! With a shake of her fur most of the dust blew out and she was back to her black-furred self. Did I hit Soulpaw or a tree? It sure felt like a tree! She giggled at the mental image of a Soulpaw make of bark, with leaves instead of a face. Oops! Getting distracted again! She spread her weight out evenly, waiting for Soulpaw to come at her again. She'd rather go for a little spin than get knocked off her feet. Since Soulpaw was stronger - well, felt stronger at the moment, anyway - then she was, she'd have to be a little sneaky with her next move.

Soulpaw had been standing in front of a tree when Moonpaw had shot out of nowhere. She quickly ducked, letting the cat hit the tree behind her. Soulpaw jumped away and stared at Moonpaw before smiling. "You're not so bad. But let's see if you can handle this." Soulpaw rapidly ran around Moonpaw, causing huge puffs of dust to rise up. When Soulpaw could hardly see anymore, she pounced on Moonpaw and slid back into walls of dust, continuing to run around Moonpaw. She aimed a blow for Moonpaw's ear, but missed. She growled in frustration but calmed down. She closed her eyes and opened them. She dashed in front of Moonpaw and tried some swipes with her claws sheathed. 'Hope it actually hits. All these moves are tiring me out.'

Dust, everywhere! Just as soon as Moonpaw had fluffed out her pelt to remove dust, there was a thunder of pawsteps and a cloud of dust surrounding her. No way! Oh, I hope I put my moss in a safe place, or it's going to be all dusty and I'll have to go and wash it! However, the pawsteps came to an abrupt stop and started again, and Moonpaw managed to duck, just before a paw came swinging at her. Too predictable. Sneak up on me? Hehe. Moonpaw thought this just as Soulpaw charged at her with a barrage of swipes. She squealed. Thank StarClan those claws are sheathed or I'd be a right mess! quailed Moonpaw. No, this is enough! You're going down! With a growl, Moonpaw struck back at Soulpaw will all her might. Using all her strength in this one hit! Would it work!? Hit her, hit her, hit her, chanted Moonpaw as her paw approached the side of Soulpaw's head.

Soulpaw dodged but got a blow on her ear. She tumbled, rolling over the ground before jumping into a standing position in mid-air. She looked at Moonpaw, panting. She dusted herself off and crouched. Soulpaw sprung into a tree, jumping right over Moonpaw. She quietly jumped from branch to branch. Then she sprang. Her eyes flashed as she pushed her paws out in front of her and waited for them to come into contact with Moonpaw. But she cut her attack short, and landed on the ground in front of Moonpaw. Soulpaw yawned. "I'm tired. Wanna finish this some other time?"

StarClan! A miss! Moonpaw wobbled for a moment with the momentum but managed to stay on her paws. She was panting heavily - fighting took a lot out of you, especially if you hadn't trained for it. Moonpaw heard rustling in the tree and knew this was it. At any moment Soulpaw would spring and she was done for. The air shifted. Soulpaw was dropping now! Moonpaw crouched, ready for the impact. Closer, closer... Suddenly there was a thump and Moonpaw dared to open her eyes a crack. Soulpaw was standing triuphantly in front of her. She looked nearly as tired as Moonpaw felt. Soulpaw had won this, Moonpaw knew. "Finishing this again later sounds fine by me," the black apprentice puffed. "I need to get this to the Medicine Cat's Den, thankyou very much for battling me!" Moonpaw looked around, zoned in on her ball of moss, and pounced on it before rolling it in the direction of ThunderClan camp. "Later Soulpaw!" N O X S H A D O W !

Noxshadow nodded affably at Moonpaw as she passed. She nodded back quickly but looked intent on pushing her ball of moss, so Noxshadow decided not to bother her. After all, he'd much rather 'bother' Mountainpelt, wouldn't he? He smirked at the thought. Although, he already had a fair bit, their kits were due any day now. Haha. He snapped back to attention when he saw his apprentice, Soulpaw, standing in front of him. "Hey there, Soulpaw! You look a little roughed up, did you and Moonpaw battle or something?"

Soulpaw nodded. "Yeah, I was bored and decided to challenge Moonpaw to battle. We both got tired, so we called it off before either of us could win." Soulpaw yawned. "I'm tired. Do you think we could have battle-training later Noxshadow? I really want to train! Iwas about to beat Moonpaw, but at first we were pretty even. I want to train so we won't be like that again!" Soulpaw changed to a hyper personality. "I'll meet you at camp okay? Let's have the battle session after I eat!" Soulpaw scampered off to camp.

"Don't trust me, it'll be the last thing you ever do." ~Me ^u^
Noxshadow chuckled to himself as Soulpaw scampered off to go and eat. Apprentices just seemed to have bundles of energy. It was hard to believe that a cat could go from that happy, cheerful self to a grumpy old cat like an Elder in their lifetime. Living in the forest was a good life, but also a hard life. So, Soulpaw was evenly matched with Moonpaw at the beginning? And she's a medicine cat's apprentice? Well, at least Soulpaw started to do better towards the end. If she keeps up determination she's going to be one of the Clan's best fighters. I juts hope I can teach her all that she wants to learn. She's my first proper apprentice. Noxshadow absentmindedly swatted at a falling leaf, trying to figure out what he was going to do with Soulpaw in the training session later. A trick to start off a fight, perhaps? Noxshadow stretched luxiouriously, bathing his white-and-brown coat in the scattered light filtering down through the above leaves. Nothing like a nice Green-leaf day. Then, realising he had forgotten what he had left camp to do - namely, hunt - he padded into the deep shade, deeper in the shelter of Tallpines to find some prey.
[OOC;] I think we can safely say this thread is over now?
