Tumblestep watched and listened in silence. She was worried about her Leader's wounds... She had not murmered much... But she would wince a little as Duskstar yowled for silence. She listened to his tale and smiled warmly as she thought about the two kits he was about to give their Apprentice names. They deserved them... She sighed slightly and glanced down. Again... She had not been offered an Apprentice. Sure enough, she was still so young... And yet it still hurt a bit. She wanted one so baddly... But Duskstar did not speak to her... Did not choose her... She would raise her gaze again as Duskstar spoke of putting that off. She would huff silently as she thought of this being the reason he woke them up... But she would still fix her gaze respectfully upon the large tom.
But she flicked her ears forward as she heard his words. She narrowed her eyes just a bit as she listened to his story. The words were smooth... And yet something about their content seemed... Off. Sure... She knew ShadowClanners were ambitious... Mean and cold hearted... But... Surely they wouldn't go attack their lands so early... Not so soon after the Gathering... Sharpstar... She didn't know a whole lot about him, but what she did was nothing but good things... Now he had been away so maybe he changed... But... He looked so weak at the Gathering... How could he have gotten his Clan to rally and start attacking them so soon... Something was amiss in this...
She rose her gaze and fixed Duskstar with it, flicking her ears back as she heard Ruggedstep's yowl of approval and she shook her head a bit. "Duskstar I do not agree." She didn't yowl or shout, but kept that calm tone of hers, and yet it was loud enough to reach Duskstar. Surprise might ripple through the crowd. Tumblestep wasn't usually one to speak up. But she fixed Duskstar with those gentle amber eyes, though now they burned with a slow burning anger. "Since when did ThunderClan go and attack others? We have always held up the Warrior Code and tried to keep peace in the Forest..." Tumblestep would look around to all her Clanmates, searching for a friendly stare, but finding few. But she shook her head as she kept speaking. "It was like that through the long and wonderful reign of Midnightstar... And like that with many Leaders before her." She would swing her head around to meet Duskstar's gaze again. Concern shined brightly in her gentle eyes. "And besides... It would be dangerous to start a war now... You are hurt... Sharpstar is bound to have grown strong... And if is fit enough to start getting his Clan together to attack us, then who is to say they aren't stronger than us... I say we secure our borders and grow in strength until the Full Moon. And if they don't bow to our wishes then... We attack." It seemed Tumblestep had given a bit of ground in her 'this is not how it's supposed to be' spiel. But now she would shake her head and lower herself back into a seated position after giving her thoughts.
