Cranefeather nodded. He knew exactly how the tom felt. But then he mentioned compromise - compromising what? "I'm open to compromise," he said warily, wondering what was going to be offered. Or what he wanted. If they both wanted to be leaders, how would that work? Surely, they would get into arguments, and if it came to a fight... Well, at least Cranefeather had Riverstar on his side. Sure, the tom had his mate... But it'd be hard to find a fighter as fine as Riverstar... Except that time she fell asleep in the middle of a battle. That was kind of wierd.

Duskpelt smiled. "Yes, for right now I can offer you free roaming of Thunderclan's territory. I know prey is scarce and if we put our territories together then there will be more food for our warriors. Also, when this is all over and we are leading, I am fine to be your... deputy, perhaps. I am older, and more experianced of course, but I think you seem to be more... influencal. You haven't disappeared from you clan twice. I really have nothing more to offer other then Thunderclan's full support to your efforts, and my assitance in any tactical area." Duskpelt dipped his head respectfully. He wanted to impress the tom, charm him. And he didn't want a fight. "Is that reasonable?"

Cranefeather listened to the ThunderClanner's proposition, a smile growing on his face. That sounded fair... more than fair. Of course, he had to offer something in return. "That sounds great. I can also offer you access to RiverClan's fish. Since the Twolegs have stopped coming here, there's enough to support two Clans... of course, your warriors may need some assistance at first. I'm sure, once my warriors hear, they'll be willing to help." Cranefeather thought that fish was a good deal. Easy to catch, delicious, and a plentiful supply - of course, he knew more than well that the other Clans didn't share their liking for fish. There was nothing else for him to offer though - without Riverstar's permission, he couldn't allow ThunderClan cats to come and go wherever they pleased. "May I show you to our camp? Riverstar is my partner, and she probably needs to know about this too," he offered, trying to be nice now.

Duskpelt's smiled grew to a frown when Cranefeather spoke about going to the camp. He would love too, but He could not. He had to get to the moon stone now, to receive his lives. He sighed and shook his head. I would love to accompany you, but I am on my way to the Moonstone. I just had to stop here first of course. Our deputy Iceleaf has met a tradegic end and Midnightstar, after naming me deputy again, ran off into the forest. I have to go get my lives so I may lead Thunderclan. You must understand." He ducked his head in apology. "But, I will come in two days to see your camp, at sunrise I will meet you on the bank opposite of Sunning Rocks. If this all goes well, I can see Sunning Rocks being Riverclan territory again as well." Duskpelt stood up and winked, Then turned to leave. He had another though and turned back to Cranefeather. "Congradulations, On your kits." And then before Cranefeather could reply he added, "I can smell it on your pelt, the scent of your mate. She's pregnant, is she not?" A hint of softness touched Duskpelt's voice, and then he turned to leave again.

Back at the Riverclan camp, Pebbletail worked busily in his den. He had just finished collecting some spider webs, and was now checking his work, being very careful about not missing any spiders. Even if it was Pebbletail, one of the greatest Medicine Cat's in Riverclan history, he too even needed to double check his work when it came to spider webs. You could never be too careful. As the white-and-black tom worked, he sort of wished he had someone to work with. Someone to do this for him. Pebbletail wasn't getting any younger, obviously. Was there no kit in camp yet to be born who was destined to be Pebbletail's apprentice? Someone Pebbletail could teach his wonderful techniques to?
