Ravenscar sighed. He'd been sitting under the Old Tree all day, and now it was starting to rain. Great, that fits my mood. He thought. He sighed again, remembering Shiverpath's stinging words. Leave my clan!? Are you mouse-brained? Why would I do that! She'd said. He'd simply replied that he loved her. Shiverpath had just shaken her head. I'm sorry Ravenscar. I know we were friends when we were young but I don't think of you that way. I have to go now. Those words were like thorns. I don't think of you that way. He knew there was nothing wrong with Iridescentsight, she was just... not his one and only. He loved Twilightkit and Poolkit and would never let any cat tell him other wise, but he was looking for something more. Something more interesting. Something new and exciting. Someone who understood how he felt. He just wanted a warm body to curl up next to and a companion to share his worries with. Was there something wrong with that. Windclan has many nice she-cats. He tried to tell himself. But none of them have any interest in someone like me. He thought glumly as the rain soaked into his pelt. It was a nice cool rain, a good repreive from the constant heat. It was stil in the ground and made the rain steam on the hard packed earth around the ancient tree. He leapt up on a gnarled branch a few tail lengths from the ground and stretched out their like a jaguar with his left hind leg hanging off the side and his tail swishing absently.

It had been an absolutely lovely day... Yea right. Snowpelt was all tied in knots. Her talk with Spicestar hadn't gone how she hoped... She didn't know what was happening to her brother, he had missed their planned meeting the night before... Something terrible must be happening! And she couldn't do a thing about it. Her brother could die... Sure it would take nine times to completely kill him... But still. That was right... Her brother was the Leader of ShadowClan... This made her heart swell with pride. but it also caused fear to course through her. He had to make the decisions that would affect the fate of his Clan... And she couldn't even be there to completely support him... She knew she would never survive in ShadowClan anyway... But it still upset her something fierce.
Her paws carried her, seemingly aimlessly, toward The Old Tree. It was always a nice place to think... And today seemed like a good day for it... Little did she notice, however, her fur was getting soaked. But she didn't care... It was raining but she was fine with that. Soon enough she saw the Tree... She smiled slightly and moved toward it, looking around for a moment before she sat down underneath it. She was rather oblivious to the fact that she wasn't alone... "Oh Sharpstar... Please be alright... StarClan please protect him..." She murmered softly as she gazed off and up into the stars. "Watch over him for the danger coming..."

Ravenscar glanced down at Snowpelt. Snowpelt, the she-cat from this morning. Worrying about Shadowclan. "Oh Sharpstar... Please be alright... StarClan please protect him..." She mewed, unaware of him. "Watch over him for the danger coming..." Ravenscar nodded, looking up to the sky. "And watch over the innocent cats in Riverclan and Thunderclan, whose loyalty leads them into this senseless battle." He meowed. It was true, he hoped that all the cats involved would be okay. There was no point in this war. He looked down at Snowpelt, blinking his luminscent yellow eyes. "What are you doing here?"

Snowpelt sighed as she felt an odd peace fall over her... It could only be from her beloved ancestors... She dropped her head slightly and nodded in understanding, though she still quaked with nerves. She was so focused that she did not hear the other cat above her at first, her thoughts only on her brother and his Clan... This didn't make sense. There were four Clans, four territories, and it was how it always must be... She sighed slightly and looked around as she sat there beneath the tree.
Yet a voice suddenly jerked her out of her reverie. Ravenscar... She casted her gaze upward into the tree, seeing her fellow Clanmate. She managed a small smile, glancing down and shaking her head as she heard his question... What was she doing here... "Nothing really... Taking a moment to relax is all." Lies... All lies... She looked up to him. "This is a wonderful place to think... How about yourself? What brings you to this ancient tree?"

Ravenscar nodded thoughtfully with her words. He stood up and stretched his claws digging into the smooth wood. He leapt down from the branch and padded over to sit next to her. Dusk was heavy on the horizon and the rain was getting heavy. He couldn't see the boulder he passed in the distance now, but he didn't care. Even though he could see the stars on the horizon. He sighed, setting himself not too close but close enough for her to hear and see him. The soft rythemic patter of rain soothed him. "A broken heart." He replied with a sigh. Then he looked at the white she-cat. "Why are she-cats so difficult? Why can't they be happy with the simple things. Why can't I just say I love you and they can say I love you back? No, it's always something else. I'm too busy with kits or your not the same clan as me so I can't Why can't it just be simple and we leave it at that, you know? I just wish... I just wish I had someone I could care about and they cared back and that was it. You get what I mean?" He looked at the she-cat, genuinely curious of her reply. He wanted to know. Snowpelt seemed like someone he could trust.

Snowpelt's heart was heavy... But it was never too heavy for her to help one of her Clanmates as best she could. She held her head high trying not to think of her brother while she watched the form of her Clanmate come closer. The rain pounded at the ground around them, but it was well... Soothing even. She would move her gaze back to his listening quietly to the words that came forth from the tom. She nodded slowly as she heard his opening statement... Poor cat...
The words just flooded off his tongue, faster than the rain that poured around them. She listened quietly and dipped her head some in a thoughtfull manner before answering. Her tone was soft... Serene even. "They can be difficult Ravenscar... But the reason they are so difficult is that you havn't found the right one..." just like me.... Her own thoughts would go unspoken. Snowpelt hadn't had any luck with the toms either, which was odd... The snowy she cat was gentle... Kind... Quiet... Loyal... Steadfast... But no tom seemed to want her. She was young yet, so this didn't trouble her much.
"Once you find the correct she-cat... It will all fall into place... It will all... Well most of it will make sense... It will still be hard... But she will help you instead of drag you down..." Those gentle blue eyes met his with a seriousness in them. She nodded. "I understand what you mean... And I also understand that this she-cat... She's is out there waiting for you." She would allow her tail tip to touch his shoulder gently as he sat beside her. Her head dropped a little. "Sorry about earlier..." She felt the need to appologize, as she had ran off right after her meeting with Spicestar. She had been confused and hurt that they weren't running to the aid of Sharpstar... Even though she had little clue of the trouble he was in.

Ravenscar felt Snowpelt's tail on his shoulder and could feel his muscles relaxing, his stress and tension starting to leave his body. He didn't have many friends in the clan. It was hard for him to talk about things. He used to hurt himself to get rid of the pain, the stress, but now, now he didn't feel the urge anymore. "You have nothing to apologize for. I understand your fears for them. I have some of my own, not for Shadowclan, but for Riverclan. I have close friends there. At one time maybe even more then friends..." The words brought thoughts of Shiverpath back, her playful laugh, their mock fights and the days they played hide-and-seek in the reeds along the gorge. The nights under the stars. He wanted times like those back, he wanted to share his every thought and feeling with someone, someone he could trust. Someone who wanted to listen and someone he wanted to listen to. He looked at Snowpelt. She was truly beautiful, glossy white coat, bright blue eyes. A gentle face. Even drenched in the rain he could see how fit she was, she was a strong warrior, a valuable member of the clan. "What about you, Snowpelt? Do you ever feel like this?" He didn't know where the words came from. Thinking about it she probably had some handsome tom cat chasing after in the clan, he just hadn't noticed. Someone better then him, like Ghostwalker or Rootpelt. She'd probably wouldn't like someone like him.

Snowpelt had to confess... She hadn't spent a lot of time around Ravenscar... Heck she didn't often spend a lot of time around any cats... She was always the quiet onlooker... The constantly vigillant watcher... She dipped her head a little and nodded, remaining silent for the time being. Though as he spoke, her ears sprang up, eyes widening a little bit. He understood? Did he know? But as she heard him speak, she relaxed slowly, nodding a bit in response. "Y-yes... I know how you must feel." She did wonder who he might be talking about, but it was none of her business... Yet... She understood the need for secrecy... She had a fair one herself... But what if... What if she didn't have to keep it... She didn't know Ravenscar as well as she would like, but already in these few minutes she felt the possibility of trust...
She laughed inwardly at herself. What was she doing... She didn't get this far by opening up all her secrets, how could she start now... But she nodded slowly, her gaze rising back to meet his eyes again. She found a somewhat intenseness in his eyes as if he were thinking of something... She glanced away, but gave a slight smile. And yet as she heard his words, she looked at him in confusion. "Feel like what Ravenscar?" She hadn't exactly understood his question. She had no one chasing her as far as she knew... She was usually too quiet and aloof for that. "Feel like I have close friends in other Clans?" She was rather confused about his question.

Ravenscar shook his head. "I don't know... Have you ever felt like you had something to hide? Something no one else could ever know about? Have something so wonderful... but then have it taken away from you? Have you ever... had your heart broken?" He looked at his paws. They were turning beige with mud now. "I got my heart broken today. It was a she-cat in Riverclan, Shiverpath. I used to play with her by the Gorge when we were young. I loved her, have always loved her. But she didn't love me back." He stopped, realizing what he said. He looked at her. "Don't get me wrong, I'm loyal to Windclan, one hundred percent! But when I was around her the clan... it was background noise. She made me feel free. I trusted her..." He blinked and then half smiled. "I... trust you too." He meowed quietly, then looked away. He did trust her. He wanted to keep her as a friend, if only that. Someone he could confide in. He just hoped she wouldn't be upset about Shiverpath.

She listened quietly to his words. Yet as he began to ask questions, she started shifting her paws uneasily. Dang... He couldn't have a clue could he? She shivered a little, and wouldn't meet his eyes, unable to answer at first... Until he spoke of having her heart broken. She would shake her head a little. "Not in so many words..." Small tremble, but she watched his paws until she heard him start to confess. She felt her heart go out to him. Poor cat... She listened intently as he spoke, and nodded slowly. She shook her head slightly and moved closer in silence. She listened to him start to try to defend himself and she shook her head slightly but let him finish before she would speak. "The Clan trusts you Ravenscar... They would never think you unloyal for that..." She felt as though a rock dropped into the pit of her stomach. Good job Snowpelt you were doing close to the same thing... But soon she looked to him surprised.
"I trust you too Ravenscar..." She spoke softly, admitting it to him at the same time as herself. She glanced off for a moment and nodded. "You bore your heart to me... I feel I need to do the same..." She glanced off. "I've never told anyone this... No one in our Clan knows... But..." She swiped her tongue over her whiskers quickly. "I... I have a brother in another Clan..." She glanced down. "Sharpstar of ShadowClan is my brother..." She murmered softly, trembling a bit.

Ravenscar looked at her, slightly wide eyed. "Wow. Sharpstar..." He wondered what he thought for a moment. "You must be proud. I would be." He chuckled then suddenly, trying to break the odd tension that seemed to fall over him. He leaned closer to him, brushing his soaked pelt against hers. The rain was starting to let up and the clouds were breaking, patches of starlight shining through. "I understand Snowpelt. That must of been hard for you... I'm glad you shared that with me." He looked at her and smiled. "Now I see why you were so worried about him. I would be too. If my sister had been born in a different clan... I'd give my life to protect her." Sunflowerkit. She'd been the world to him. The rain pattered to a stop and the moon started to shine brightly over the moor. He breathed deeply for a moment, then parted his lips in an ephinany. "We could go to see him. Shiverpath told me the attack owuld be the day before the Gathering. We could go and protect them, fight beside Shadowclan, just me and you. No one would have to know." He looked at her, his eyes bright and smiling. "What do you think?"

Snowpelt dipped her head slightly as he spoke, she wasn't sure what she expected... But it wasn't this... "I am proud... So proud of him... I was there when Echostar announced that... I was so happy for him, and talked to him soon after the night of the Gathering..." She smiled as she felt him brush his pelt against her own. She would return it, tail laying gently across his back. He was her Clanmate, why shouldn't he have her affection at support... Just like he was offering his own.
She nodded slowly, trembling a bit. "It is hard... Too hard... I can't help but worry for him... He is... So important to me. I'm just thankful we're not at war with them... Honestly... I couldn't bear it. Fighting against my brother... But he's Leader... He wouldn't let that happen..." She nodded with assurance. But she smiled slightly to him. "Yea... I was hoping if I could... If Spicestar..." She shook her head. "I don't know what I was hoping to get... I couldn't bear putting our Clan in danger..." She trembled slightly. But as she heard his words again, eyes widened. "Ravenscar..." She shook her head slightly. "Ravenscar I couldn't put you in danger like that... And what if us being there brings Thunder and RiverClan down on our Clan as well? We couldn't stand a war... But..."
She shivered a little and narrowed her eyes some. "What if we allied with them... I don't know..." She nuzzled him slightly. "Ravenscar... Some would know... Unless... We could mask our scent... Rolling around in ShadowClan territory would make our scent lessened... But... It would still be there... What if ThunderClan or RiverClan cats recognized us and..." Ok so she was babling a bit, and pacing would commence... She paced under the tree, thinking about his plan.

Ravenscar watched her pace. He stood up and followed her. "Hey, if you don't want to..." Something popped in his head. "An ally! Someone we can trust. We should tell Sharpstar about the attack, then... he can have a warrior meet us on the border that day. He can tell them Windclan has been crossing the boarder and for them to investigate. And then they'll take us prisoner to the camp where we'll stay until the attack, then help them and escape after the battle is over and we've won. I think that might work." He thought for a moment. "Shiverpath has a friend, Auramoon, who has a friend in Shadowclan. Her name is... ah... Infectedsound? We tell him to send her. She won't just drive us out, I know. She's too loyal. What about that. OKay?" He smiled and licked the side of her face. "It'll work. Then you can make sure Sharpstar is okay and I can make sure Shiverpath is okay. Okay?" He hoped she'd like this idea.

Snowpelt would continue to pace in silence, but as he spoke, she looked to him her eyes wide. "Oh no no that's the problem... I do want to... So baddly..." She trembled slightly. But then looked as he exclaimed and listened as he gave his plan. She gasped as she listened. Oh it sounded better the more he spoke. "Oh my goodness... Ravenscar you are brilliant... That might just work..." Oh how she wanted it to work. She longed to make sure her brother was alright, and to help him if she could. With the information Ravenscar gave her... She trembled slightly and sent her gaze skyward. "We don't have much time... I'm meeting with Sharpstar tomorrow night... I'll tell him then..." She nodded and thought. "And Nightpaw... His daughter... She could help Infectedsound so it doesn't look like we simply gave up?" She nodded slowly and trembled slightly. "This could work... And if we're ShadowClan's prisoners no one could refute us being there... And if we happen to help..." She moved quickly to Ravenscar, pressing her nose to his. "You are absolutely brilliant Ravenscar!" And the tongue rasped over his muzzle.
She would draw back somewhat looking sheepish. "I'm sorry..." She murmered softly to him, but nodding slowly. "The idea is sound... But..." She shook her head some. "No... You have friends in danger too... We can do this..."

Ravenscar laughed joyously at her exclaimation. It would work. He stiffened when her nose touched his or when her tongue rasped over his muzzle. His fur got hot and if cats could blush his face would be bright red. "I-it's okay..." A small smile spread on his shocked lips and then he tenatively licked from the bridge of her to her forehead then drew back and flicked his ears, smiling wider. "Snowpelt, I'm so glad we can do this. That we can share this." He let out a quiet contented sigh as he sat back down and looked up at the moon. He opened his mout slight, then closed it again and then opened it in indesision. "Can I meet Sharpstar?" He asked quietly, looking at her, his yellow eyes searching hers. He didn't understand this feeling he felt but he liked it and he wanted it to stay with him. He was... warm inside. There was this warmth that hadn't been there before. And it was because of Snowpelt, this wonderful white she-cat.
