[[so sorry for the delay. High school kills. I’ll try to be more consistent now that I’ve figured out what I’m doing…]]
“A race, huh?” She called after him, picking up speed. Good, keep it lighthearted. If she could ignore the danger for this run, it would seem to go faster.
Striding as quickly as she could, Greenheart strained to catch up to Spicefur. His ginger coat glittered. Her back was warm – darker coat, absorbed more heat. She flicked her tail and put an extra burst of power into the next stride, flashing forward, nose at the tip of his tail. Considered nipping it, then decided against it.
She surged forward again, every few strides tossing in a little something extra until she ran at his side. For whatever reason, she didn’t have much motivation or move any farther forward.
A shadow flashed over them. Greenheart jerked her eyes skyward, but it was only a crow, gliding towards Fourtrees. When she looked over, she’d fallen back a bit. Her hind legs gave an extra push, and her shoulder brushed his, gently, not enough to make him stumble or even effect his balance.
Her cheeks burned. Huh, that was weird.
She focused on her feet. Good. Feet were good.
Greenheart found herself giggling.

Gotta run. Keep running. Spicefur concentrated on the pattern of his footsteps, determined not to trip again. But his pattern was disurbed by Greenheart's feet. He was going to turn his head, but then thought the better of it. Rather not know than fall again. But before he knew it he could feel Greenheart's warm breathe on his tail. He gave himself a private smile. He was still winning! But, then, Greenheart caught up. Their shoulders brushed ever so gently; the odd thing was, Spicefur felt an electric tingle. Must be the heat, he told himself. But then Greenheart started giggling. Spicefur had to join in - it was just... so... just so... Well, he didn't know. There was lots to be happy about. The bird had been pushed to the back of his mind. He put in a little more effort, just getting ahead of Greenheart. He could see the blurred outline of the camp, now. Well, that sucked. He was having a great time.
((Bleh, no muse >.< Sorry!

Camp was closing in on them very quickly. And Greenheart really didn’t want the run to end. Something about the wild glory of it was nice, and sharing it with Spicefur was even nicer. Couldn’t actually figure out why that was. Certainly now like a bother… But still nice. She prayed for a distraction.
StarClan heard her.
Almost from right under her paws an enormous rabbit sprang to life, racing full speed away, almost in the opposite direction. Greenheart made a weird yowling sound somewhere between fear and laughter and exultation in the back of her throat, putting on the brakes.
“After it!” She called happily, pivoting on her hind legs and rushing after the disappearing shape. It crashed and thrashed through the tall gras, through a patch of thick weeds, clearing a neat little path for her. Greenheart took it, inhaling deeply, letting the prey-scent fill her. She sensed motion ahead, watched the path before her change, so she changed course with it. She’d never actually seen a hare that big, and he was keeping up a steady pace. He was heavy, too, and when she lost sight of him, she managed to track him only by the tunnel in the grass. It zigged and zagged, and Greenheart barely had time to wonder if Spicefur was coming, too.
Its weight was beginning to become it’s disadvantage, and the rabbit’s stamina was beginning to ebb. Thanking her ancestors for breeding speed and endurance into WindClan, Greenheart knew she was just getting started. She put on a little more speed and it came back into view, dark body running like a drop of water though the golden grass. The long ears were lying flat on his broad back, twitching with fear, and the bottoms of his feet were white, flashing like twin beacons in the sun. Tiny scrap of a tail bounced crazily as the rabbit veered left hard. A grin played across her face, and she narrowed her eyes, dropping lower in the grass and charging all out at the smaller animal as the hare slowed, exhausted already.
She leapt at it, claws oustretched. They actually rolled a few times, and the rabbit had some surprisingly long claws. It weighed half as much as she did, though, and she had it pinned in a few moments. The rabbit screamed, curdling her blood, so she bit it’s neck, burying her muzzle in the soft brown fur. She felt it’s heartbeat against her nose before she sank her teeth in.. The sound cut off quickly. They were in a small hollow, tall grass blowing on all sides. Greenheart exhaled deeply, and dropped the rabbit’s body, turning to look around for Spicefur’s russet pelt amongst the sun-kissed grasses.
[[sorry for the wait.]]

Crash. Shake. Spicefur spun around, skidding on his paws, to see Greenheart darting after a rabbit. Quickly turning, he pelted after them. He leant down, reducing wind resistance. The long grass tickled his nose as he burst into a patch of it. The heather was intoxicating as he ran straight through a clump of it - making him lose Greenheart's trail. He growled under his breath, but then saw the trail created through the grass. It had been crushed where the rabbit and Greenheart smashed through. He looked behind him - there was an identical trail, if a little wider. He shrugged, and sped through the trail. Spicefur's ears pricked as he heard a bloodcurdling scream. He unconsciously cringed at the sound. He knew it was the rabbit, but it didn't stop his heart beating faster and the extra speed. He burst through the last of the grass and into a small clearing, where Greenheart stood, an enormous rabbit as her paws. He stared wide-eyed. "Wow," he panted, "Great job! That thing's a monster." He padded to he side to get a closer look at it. It was huge. The biggest he'd ever seen. Then he sighed. "I guess we better take this back to camp..." He didn't want to, though. The sun was so warm, the sky was cloudless and the company was good. Why bother? Right. WindClan. The giant bird was still flying about and they had a huge rabbit to deliver. He frowned in annoyance. So much to do.
