"To succeed in your mission, you must have single-minded devotion to your goal." ~Abdul Kalam PREFACE;; The room was dark. The moon slithered in through a crack in the heavy curtains, leaving a white beam of light slicing through the centre of the room. There was no sound in the room - noise drifted up from the lower story of the house, but the faint babble of the television and clinking cutlery noises from the kitchen were muffled by a stack of pillows shoved in front of the door. In the room, a boy lay on his back. Waiting for something he knew wasn't going to happen - a phone call. Or even a text would be nice. He pushed himself up from the bed, slowly, moving fluidly from lying down into sitting straight up. The beam of moonlight was shining right on his bedside table. Thankfully, that was where he'd left his phone, so instead of blundering about in the dark searching for it, he simply stretched out and grabbed it. The plastic felt smooth and cool on his skin. Should he? This might be taking it one step too far. Nonetheless, he typed up the text message, his fingers flying over the keypad. Hey, Alice. Guess who. I miss/love you. Call me? He sent it, his heart speeding up as he did so. Now what?Would she reply? Would she ignore him? What if someone found out? Well, it was too late now - he'd sent it. He'd have to face the consequences.

CHAPTER 1;; 'Stop.texting.ME sdkif;jnlskdjf;lkjsd;flkj,' Alice texted in response. She pressed the stupid send button, then threw the stupid phone across the room. It didn't break, but crashed into the plain white wall with a cracking noise and electronic beeping. That sucked. Hold on - how the heck did Nathan even get her number? Nonetheless, he was stupid. A stupid, stalking, ridiculous idiot, who wouldn't stop texting her while she was trying to sleep. Well, not like she was sleeping everytime he texted her - maybe every second time. What was he, nocturnal? And how about this: she didn't want him to text her. Ever. Period. ...Again, how did he get her number? The idiot was stalking her, wasn't he? Oh my god. Alice decided she wouldn't move unless her phone rang again. Which hopefully it wouldn't, because then she might have to snap it in half and block his number.

Nathan nearly jumped out of his skin as his phone's ring tone sounded, painfully loud in the silence of his room. It was still in his hand - he hadn't moved since he'd sent the message. He opened the message - yes, it was from Alice! He couldn't help it - a huge, dopey grin spread over his face. "Stop.texting.ME sdkif;jnlskdjf;lkjsd;flkj," she had demanded. What was all the spam letters and numbers? She was probably really mad at him. His grin - if it was physically possible - spread wider over his face. She was always really, really adorable when she was angry. Now he had that thought of her in his head, he couldn't resist replying. "Sorry, darling, I can't do that. What're you doing this Saturday?" Of course, he didn't mean it, but he'd be completely, absolutely more than happy to go out with her if she wanted... Which she didn't. Nathan just hoped Alice hadn't broken her phone or delete his number while he'd been replying. She'd been known to be rash and unpredicatble when she was furious - like she probably was now.

Alice ran over to her phone (and nearly stepped on it purposely. But she needed it. For other reasons than screaming at Nathan with angry cusses and stuff. Stupid.) when it's ringtone sounded. He was still texting her? That... that...jerk! ">( DAMNIT STOP IT.I HATE YOU. AND STOP THINKING I'M ADORABLE. I CAN SEE YOU," Alice texted angrily. Wouldn't that shut him up? She nearly ran to the window, and threw it--although it'd probably hit a window, and then break. [/blockquote]

Nathan laughed at her response. He knew she couldn't actually see him - considering his curtains were closed - but, luckily for him, she lived right across the road. So if he opened his curtains, then he could see into her bedroom. Well, he might just do that then, might'nt he? He stood up, stretching the kinks out of his back, and opened the curtains. The yellow light from the streetlights flooded in, turning his room into a yellow-hued mess. His room was completely trashed - rubbish on the floor, overturned drawers on the floor (the majority with their contents spilling out) and heaps of drawn-on paper and books scattered on the floor. Nathan peered across the road, into Alice's house. Her room wasn't very well lit, but he could still see her sillouette standing with her phone in hand. "Don't be like that babe. I can see you too! Wow, we must have a connection or something," he typed, sending it with a malicious smirk. What would be her reply to this? Probably more nonsensical insults.

Alice had moved over to the window, reaching up to yank the blinds shut. Stupid imbecile. "How 'bout now?" She responded. "I need food." She texted again, but then changed her mind. Too late. She hit the sent button, possibly 2 seconds after she had changed her mind. Alice had smacked her head, angrily, before leaning on the windowsill to glance out through the slits of the blinds. "...b**chb**chb**chb**chb**chb**chb**chb**chb**chb**chb**ch."She looked down at her phone, rapidly pressing the keys on her phone. She jabbed the send button - hard.

Nathan chuckled as, at the exact same time, Alice's blinds snapped shut and he recieved a text message asking him, "How 'bout now?" Before he could respond, his phone buzzed again, telling him that Alice needed food. "There's plenty of food at my house," he responded quickly, just as he noticed Alice's narrowed eyes peering through a gap between her blinds. He waved, falsely cheerful. Then she glared down at her phone, and he received a random spam message. She probably hadn't gotten his response yet. He jumped onto his bed, landing flat on his back. It was much more comfortable than standing up.

Alice had definitely gotten it. "Anyways, I'm forced to go over to your house because my parents don't want me home alone. For some stupid reason." She sent the text message. She moved to the dresser, yanking out her clothes. Honestly, she didn't care what she wore. Jeans and a hoodie - that had ADORABLE cat ears on the hood - would be her outfit today. The skinny jeans were like, a dark denim blue. And she put on her converses as well. They were black with white laces. She actually wore them alot. Suprisingly the white tip of the shoe, where her toes were, they were were still clean - perfectly pure white. The door to her room was open - the only thing she needed to do was walk down the steps, and out the door. And she did just that. The side walk was white, and kind of smooth, as if it was a bit new, but not really. Some parts of the sidewalk had different colors that didn't seem to match -between the rock imbedded sections and the tawny sections, and the pure white sections, and there was the grey sections, sometimes with huge proportions torn out of it. 'Wait, should I just go in?' She texted, stopping for a moment.

Nathan glanced down at his phone in surprise. Alice was coming here? Hurriedly he yanked his pyjamas off and was tugging on his jeans when his phone buzzed again. "Wait, should I just go in?" Alice asked. Nathan smirked. That might give his parents a bit of a surprise. Forgetting about a t-shirt, he bolted down the stairs and through the first storey to reach the door. He rattled the doorknob, and yanked the door open. Alice was standing a few feet away. He beamed at her, and confidently walked over to her. Putting his hand on the small of her back, he ushered her into his house. "Mum, Alice is here, her parents have gone out," he shouted in the general direction of his parental authority. Then he trotted back up the stairs and waited at the top, so Alice could catch up.

Alice jumped in shock at the touch to her back. What the hell? She thought, stomping up the steps. "Put on a shirt," She muttered, glancing at him for a moment, "And don't touch me again." She added, finally making it to the top of the steps. Alice was insanely hungry right now, and she was annoyed. Go get me some food, you idiot. The little voice in her mind had directed to Nathan. That little voice ment business.

Nathan smirked at Alice's muttering. He leant over her and flicked the cat ears on her hoodie. "That's not touching you. Now... as for the shirt...." He beckoned to Alice to come with him into his room. He sprayed on some deodorant, then turned around and sprayed it all over Alice's clothes. He smirked, and then picked up the first shirt he found on the ground and pulled it on. "Happy?" he asked.

"No, not really." She sighed. Ugh. He was so annoying. Now she smelled like a man. Oh, that was great. Just great. "Now I smell like a man, thanks." Alice whined. "Gimme some food." She drastically changed the subject, crossing her arms. She moved into his room, and sat on his bed.

"Now I smell like a man, thanks," snapped Alice. Nathan grinned at her. "Oh darling, you could never smell like a man," he taunted in a singsong voice. When Alice asked for food, he saluted and marched over to his bedside table, knowing he had something in there somewhere. He shuffled through the drawer until his hand closed around his goal. "A-ha! Pocky!" he exclaimed triumphantly, unwrapping the chocolate-covered delight. He handed it to Alice but figured she'd be hungry straight after. "I'm going to get something else," he told her, bounding down the stairs, and returning with two slices of cheesecake.

Alice snatched the chocolate from him, and ate it - at least it was SOMETHING. "How much food do you have?!" She gasped. Cheesecake. It was good, and not to mention edible. She'd wait, but if he took forever, she'd grab it and shove it, plate and all down her throat. She didn't care! She was hungry for crying out loud. She couldn't take it anymore.

Nathan assessed Alice's expression. She looked like she'd kill for that cheesecake. He grinned as an idea formed in his mind. "Okay, you can have the cheesecake... but only if... hmm..." He raised an eyebrow, looking at her defiantly. "You have to kiss me first."
[Ugh nooo muse. At all. Easter sucks.]
