Ribbonpaw searched through the brambles that laden the ground. Nothing! Not a scrap of prey! Even though it was leaf-bare, maybe a tiny shrew could be wandering about! But not even in the places the clanmates didn't look were there any prey. Ribbonpaw hissed furiously. She had run off without Jasperpaw, but not to worry him, only to see if she could catch something without him, only to try and prove something to herself, which failed miserably. She thought by leaving her best friend behind, she could show the clan that she can do anything in the world, but by doing so, she messed up and only truly understood that Jasperpaw, her brother, was the only way she accomplished much. He gave her all the power she needed. Stupid mistakes.
She looked up from where she was hidden and realized that Sunningrocks was up ahead.
"Hmm," she sniffed. Perhaps a scrap of prey dwelled in the rocks and besides, she could use a warm spot to rest. She'd been trecking through the dead forest in search for somthing to eat. She trotted over to the warm rocks and almost instantly she saw a small chaffinch resting in front of her, back towards her. She was going to have to be very sly about this catch seeing as nothing has appeared in forever it felt like. She slowly caustiously pawed her way forward and while she was very close to being behind it, something cracked off in the distance and the chaffinch fluffed its wings and prepared for take off.
I don't think so! Ribbonpaw thought defiancly in her mind. She shook her hind quarters and eyed the birds movement carefully. She sprang. Claws extended, Ribbonpaw reached the small scrap and took it down quickly, killing it.
"Finally!" she said and scraped some leaves over it to mark her catch. "I wonder what the crack was?" she said out loud, but she didn't need a moment to wonder any longer till she saw two cats rapidly hurtling down the river from RiverClan's territory.
A white cat and a tabby floated, or should she say plummeted down the river's waters.
"Oh no!" Ribbonpaw shouted and watched as the white tom, she thought he was, grabbed the she-cat and swam bravely towards her. She needed to reach him somehow!
