...L arksong:.Pour out all your feelings that were safely tucked inside. Let go, please let go; Fly free, please fly free and sing a song full of feeling as beautiful as a lark [/color] .: A mild gale swiped through the air, making the tortoiseshell's long-haired pelt flap in the wind wildly in a flurry of orange, black and white. She stood only tail-lengths from the gorge, but she knew of its dangers.
The cliff runs to an abrupt halt, where any cat not keen enough to spot the hole before it's too late will skid right in. Down, down, down they will fall, until they reach the end - if there is one. It seemed bottomless, completely black, and cracked open in the shape of a smirk. It talks. It says, "Come on in. Do you dare?" But it was unwelcoming, and only a mousebrain of a cat will jump inside at will to their doom.
I can't do this, Larksong fought back, I need to live...for my clan! She took two steps back and then one pawstep forward. Should she die, or should she just live?
Larksong didn't know. All she knew were her hopes, dreams, fears, and the loyalties she couldn't lay down.

Things had been bugging Morningpaw lately... Things with their Leader and their Deputy were the main worries on this young one's heart. She often came to the Gorge just to think. She had been warned against it often enough, and yet she didn't often take heed to the warnings. She found it to be a delightful place to come and think. It was usually void of any other cats as many cats hated to go around it... Much less hunt or patrol it much. So she was usually out of any other cat's way. She sighed softly to herself, her paws heavy, allowing her true emotions to show now that she felt alone.
The sweet little she-cat was so confused by the recent happenings... The mysterious dissapearance of the wonderful Silverstar... The rise of Riverstar and her Deputy Cranefeather... Psh... Cranefeather... Thinks he's all great just because he's Deputy and like... Huge... She looked at her own paws and sighed a little, yes... She was tiny even for an Apprentice. She would then look up as she neared the Gorge, and what should she see... But another cat... A lovely she-cat. She tilted her head a little as recognition shot through her, and the cat looked so sad... And upset? Well Morningpaw's normal, gentle, helpful nature kicked in and she would wander closer before speaking softly to her. "Larksong? What are you doing? Are you alright?"

...L arksong:..: Fear and longing and guilt swirled and rushed and smashed together all at once. The impact was almost to hard to bear. Larksong sheathed her claws, flexing them to find a good grip on the rock. She braced herself, daring not to look - yet the pit called for her anyway. Only mousebrains jump in there, she told herself pitifully, Am I a mousebrain? She clenched, and clenched, and gritted her teeth. "No!!" she cried out loud, "No! No! No - "
"Larksong? What are you doing? Are you alright?" interrupted a gentle voice.
Larksong whipped her head around. Her fur was bristling, and her expression was filled with bottled-up distress. The tortouiseshell's eyes flashed. "What are you...?!" she choked out, not bothering to finish the rest of the sentence, although she really did want to ask why Morningpaw was here. The she-cat halted, and fought to let her fur rest flat down. "I can't...I wont...I...I...I'm sorry, Morningpaw," she mumbled softly, looking down at her paws.
When will StarClan let her rest? [/blockquote]

It would be a lie to say that Morningpaw didn't feel an odd pull toward the Gorge this particular day... She often came here to think... And yet she felt oddly closer to StarClan when she was around the Gorge... She looked to Larksong, worry in her young eyes as she watched her grip the rock and stare down the Gorge. after she had lifted her soft voice, the she-cat had whirled on her choking out the question. Morningpaw tensed up a little and would recoil just slightly before boldly moving to Larksong's side and pressing her muzzle comfortingly against Larksong's shoulder. She trembled slightly as she suddenly realized what Larksong may have been thinking. "Oh Larksong... Don't appologize... What's wrong... I'm sorry... I have no idea what you're going throught..." Shivered a little bit, wondering if she was overreacting... Maybe Larksong just came here to think like she did... And yet the way she stood at the cliff's edge spoke otherwise... She shivered a little and would gaze up at the older she-cat uncertainly. "Whatever it is... You will make it through it I'm sure..." The wisdom of StarClan themselves seemed to flow through this young one at odd times... And this seemed to possibly be one of those times... It was odd the way her eyes shone with something different... And yet she would soon blink and it was gone... The Apprentice looking slightly confused as she gazed up at Larksong.

...L arksong:..: "Oh, Larksong... Don't apologize.... What's wrong... I'm sorry... I have no idea what you're going through..." said the apprentice. Morningpaw shivered. Larksong didn't like that shiver. The young cat continued, "Whatever it is... You will make it through. I'm sure..." Larksong stared at the cat. It was so awkward. The way Morningpaw's eyes shone...They shone with knowledge, and wisdom. Like StarClan? the senior warrior thought. Sighing, she looked away, not seeing the abrupt slightly confused expression that spread over Morningpaw's face.
Normally, Larksong would've flashed a biting retort, but her soft side for younger cats shone through. Instead, she just scraped her paws slightly, and shook her head. "It's best not to know this, Morningpaw; best not get involved," she mewed, and swished her tail with agitation. The gorge called out to her again, and the dapple-pelted she-cat took a brisk glance at the ditch before standing up and staring away, lost in thought.
Her eyes looked blank. [/blockquote]

Morningpaw would watch her uneasily. She knew Larksong was none to be trifled with... Not at all. And yet she cared about the older she-cat just like she cared about all her Clanmates... She gazed up at her with worried eyes as she looked at her. Morningpaw would often try to keep other cats from seeing her when she felt that... Odd feeling. It was always then that her words and the flash of her eyes would seem like StarClan themselves might be trying to speak through the young cat. But she hated how it made other cats look at her all funny. She sighed slightly, but shook the thought from her head and mewed softly to her as she heard her tell her that she didn't want to get involved. "Larksong... You are of my Clan and I care about you just as I do any other RiverClan cat..." She wouldn't say a thing more, knowing that any more and she would very likely get a retort from the she-cat. Larksong wasn't always well known for being full of gumdrops and butterflies. But she would nod to the she-cat and be silent as she gazed off blankly for a moment, before the young one would speak again. "Come on... We should go... Do you want to come fishing with me for a bit?" She asked quietly, tilting her head some, hoping to get the she-cat's mind off whatever upset her.

...L arksong:.OOC; Sorry about the delay and the short post >.<' My muse is running a bit low today... .: Larksong bit back a spiteful retort at the apprentice's cheesy words. Rather, she sighed, a wistful look present in her deep blue eyes. Then, Morningpaw mewed that they should go. "Fishing," she had said.
"Fine," she muttered, and padded away from the gorge. She cringed. It pulled at her, calling her to go back. But she could not surrender. She would live...at least for another day. At least the river can't be as dangerous.
Unless I decide to drown myself... The tortoiseshell gulped. [/blockquote]

Morningpaw perked her ears up as she gazed very seriously up at Larksong. Sure... The words may seem cheesy, but she wouldn't have said them if she didn't mean every one. That was one thing about Morningpaw... She was never short on kind things to say, but they were each and every one heartfelt... She then perked her ears as she watched her, not a movement coming from the small apprentice.
She heard her affirmation and nodded quickly in response, leaping to her paws and padding quickly off toward the river, away from the gorge... That blessed and cursed of places... It was so dangerous, but a wonderful place to feel close to StarClan and to think... She looked to Larksong and heard her gulp, tilting her head a bit in confusion. "Everything alright Larksong?"

...L arksong:..: Thoughts mumbled and jumbled in Larksong's head as she turned toward the river. Every pawstep seemed to result in dizzyness. Nostalgia bubbled inside, and Larksong knew it wasn't going to stop any time soon.
Morningpaw mewed quite suddenly, "Everything alright, Larksong?" and this caught the senior warrior off guard.
"Y-yes, I'm okay," the tortoiseshell stammered. Wind licked her pelt. She paused for a moment, halting to a stop. Was what she said a lie, or not? The obvious answer would be 'yes', but would if she was okay? What if she was just spazzing out over nothing?
Larksong shook her head and sighed. StarClan, what will I ever do? But quickly realizing that Morningpaw would suspect something wrong, she quickly mewed - a bit too brightly - "The river's just around the corner! Don't you just love the smell of it?" And as if to emphasize her words, she sighed again, but this time appearing to smell the air, searching for the funny smell of fish so well imprinted in every RiverClanner's mind. [/blockquote] OOC; Gah...Someone pulled the plug on my muse for Larksong! Dx Oh, and P.S. - should I move this thread to the River, now? :3

The young Apprentice would move quickly over the ground, and yet her gaze was not removed from the older Warrior. She heard as Larksong spoke of being alright, and yet her gaze and tone spoke otherwise. What was going on with her... True enough, this wasn't her Mentor, but Morningpaw had taken to caring so deeply about every one of her Clanmates as if they were all her family... And this was how a family should be... Should it not? Well she would pad along with her, her tail swishing a bit, anxiety obvious in her motions.
Soon enough she saw Larksong shake her head and she would look forward, perking her ears as Larksong spoke. Morningpaw would grin brightly and nod quickly in affirmation to her question. "Oh yes! I really do!" Her heart began to race a little and she looked slyly to Larksong before grinning, a bit of the normal Apprentice behavior seeping into her consciousness. "Hey Larksong... Race you!" And with that the small Apprentice was gone, speeding off toward the river, a grin on her face, and a light in her eyes.
OOC: Aww... I'm sorry! *Plugs it in*
And we can... Or we can end it there if you don't want to continue with Larksong right now?

...L arksong:..: Morningpaw's sudden change in mood caught the senior warrior in surprise. "Hey, Larksong...Race you!" she mewed and dashed off to the stream, a glint in her eye and a grin on her face.
Larksong couldn't help but to laugh. When was the last time she giggled like that? The tortoiseshell couldn't remember. Ah, but nevermind. I should let go of my worries for once, at least!
The ground streamed behind her, and she ran like she was of WindClan descent. Her pure RiverClan paws pounded the ground as she flew...How free! How free! The she-cat bolt past the apprentice, picking up speed with every heartbeat and - SPLOOSH! - landed right into the river.
It smacked her hard as concrete. [/blockquote] OOC; Whoops - sorry xD Despite being a mod, I can't move threads D: Well, in any case that'll be for you to decide...I have to say my muse for Larksong is really low right now. Perhaps we could somehow take this to a halt?

Morningpaw couldn't help it, she was an Apprentice, afterall... Rather different from many her age, but still very much an Apprentice. She smiled brightly and giggled as the longer legged Warrior rushed right on past her, she didn't mind... She would hustle as fast as she could toward the River. She would soon make it along with Larksong, reaching the river not far behind the Warrior. She purred in complete amusement as Larksong ran so fast, she ran right into the river!
She couldn't help but giggle herself and await the older she-cat to come on back out of the water so they could set to fishing. But she herself would sit on the bank for the moment, scanning the icy waters for the tell tale glimmer of fish scales, not that many would be around after Larksong's display, they would likely have to wait for a bit... But that was fine with the gentle Apprentice, and she would purr in amusement, allowing her tail to wrap neatly over her paws as she watched Larksong...OOC: Sure thing, no problem. We could probably just end it here... You know, a fade to black thing? And then later they came back with a few fish for the Fresh Kill pile? Whatever you want to do. Or we could start a new thread over at the River if you get muse later or whatever.

...L arksong:..: Larksong sprang up from the river's bottom, splattering droplets in every direction. She was laughing. Laughing! Laughing as the water swished around her, and fish skimmed under its surface. She swam powerfully with ease through the stream as she open-mouthed-giggled. The tortoiseshell seemed as if the river were her home, and she'd been doing this all her life. She had. And - oh! - the pleasure in doing it!
The she-cat pulled herself out of the water, shaking her bodice and licking her matted fur. "Ahh, I can do that again anyday!" she purred, obviously not thinking about the feel of water smacking her face. But it had felt so good to be in there...She wanted to do it again. But she wouldn't pass through if she'd go back to the camp empty-jawed and drenched. So, acknowledging Morningpaw's efforts to spot fish, she sat right next to her.
It didn't take long for the fish to begin appearing in the stream again. They darted back and forth, swimming downstream all while trying to get prey of their own. When it comes to hunting, Larksong was serious. She watched intently, and then with a sudden bash of a paw, a silver figure was flung out of the water and landed, flopping, on the ground. The tortoiseshell swiped at it with a claw, and it was all that it took - one more piece of fresh-kill for RiverClan. Again and again Larksong went at it, silently without a word. [/blockquote] OOC; Sure. :3 Catching some fresh-kill is not problem! :D How about if we stop this after your post? They could be going back to camp or something...x3

Mirth danced in the young she-cat's eyes as she watched the Warrior burst up through the quickly moving waters, and she couldn't help but laugh along with her, surprised, but thrilled to see Larksong looking so happy. Indeed she looked so at home in the water, as all RiverClan cats seemed to... Morningpaw purred in amusement as she watched her swim powerfully back toward her and pull herself up onto the bank. She heard her words and couldn't help but giggle a little and nod a bit. "That did look like fun! Maybe after we catch a bunch of fish we'll both have to do it..." She would nod a bit but then focus on the water again as it settled. She purred lightly and watched as the fish returned, darting about. It wouldn't be long and the fish would be slower, and less plentiful in the water... But for now she would help to catch enough prey for her Clan.
She struck her paw out quickly to snag another fish and fling it out of the water as she, as many other Apprentices before her, had learned from an early Apprenticing age. She grinned and dispatched it with a quick swipe of her paw before going for another and another... Before long there was a sizable pile of fish on the bank ready to be carried back by the two cats... When suddenly Morningpaw got a mischevous gleam in her eye and suddenly lunged at Larksong in a playfull manner. With any luck she would knock the older cat off balance and the both of them would tumble into the river.OOC: Heehee one more set of posts? Lol. Sorry couldn't resist...

...L arksong:..: The mischievous glint in Morningpaw's eyes was a surprise. She lunged for Larksong, playfully, and the warrior was too stunned to react quickly. Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, the she-cat jumped to her feet and lightly pounced back at the apprentice, batting her with no claws.
But somewhere along the way, Larksong lost her balance. Her eyes opened up real wide, and in the struggle to remain standing, she seized Morningpaw by the scruff - and wounded up falling, tumbling, splattering into the river, drenched all over again.
She wasn't prepared for this. The water choked up her lungs. Larksong helplessly flailed her paws until she rose into the air...the good, good air! Oxygen filtered into her at last. But it wasn't long until she remembered the apprentice she had brought down with her.
"Morningpaw!" the tortoiseshell cried, and desperately scanned the view for any sign of the young she-cat. [/blockquote] OOC; Sorry about the late post >.<' My muse for Larksong is running low again ._.
