Milkfur landed sqarely on the mouse, and killed it with one swift bite. All to easy for Milkfur, that mouse had basically begged to be caught! She scrapped dust and leaf-litter over her fresh-kill, so she could retrieve it later.
Milkfur decided to take a little break. She had just come from the marsh and having already caught a vole and a blackbird aside from her mouse, she wanted to groom the mud from her fur. She didn't hate the marshes, but, for the first time all leaf-bare, they were muddy again! They had been frozen for several moons now, and it was almost refreshing to see them melt. Almost.
She started with her paws, they were easy. Then she groomed her tail and back, which were harder, and then she washed her face. Finally, her pearly pelt gleamed white again, and it was time to resume hunting. The fern clearing wasn't all that muddy, so she wasn't all that worried about getting her pelt dirty again. She opened her mouth to scent another mouse, but a different scent wafted over her scent glands.
((ooc: anyone can just jump in! You can be the cat she scents!))

Stormcry
He needed to blow off some steam. He normally didn't have to, he'd always been a regularly calm and collected tom, but there was something about their no arrival, Dusk, the former she-rogue, that rubbed his fur the wrong way. Stifling the growls in his chest, he kept to the shadows as he entered the fern covered land. Shifting his mind into something a bit more, calming, he spotted a mouse. Hunting would be good right now, it'd help him forgive and forget... mostly forget. He was about to spring on a mouse when another Warrior of his clan did the job for him. A little disappointed at first, he flicked the emotion away. She'd done good. He recalled her name, Milkfur.
She'd just scented him as he stepped out of his hiding place. Mindless chatter would clear his mind just as much as hunting could, he guessed. "Hello Milkfur," Stormcry said in greeting.

"Oh, hello!" Milkfur waved her tail in greeting as Stormcry approached. "What bring's you out here?" She sat up and wrapped her tail around her paws. The sun was shining today, and it cast a shaft of light into the clearing, making it quite a cozy place.
Usually she couldn't read other's expressions well, but there was an unmistakable look of distress in Stormcry's golden eyes today. She twitched her ears nervously, hoping nothing was wrong back at camp.

Stormcry
"Oh, nothing much," the senior warrior answered, "Just need to clear my head is all. Good catch by the way." He was doing his best not to let his grumpiness, brought on by Dusk, show. If Warhawk, his former apprentice, were here, she'd have felt it on him anyway, then bugged him about why. Even though she was nearly as annoying, she'd always cheer him up in some way or another after she found out why he was mad. 'Young cats, these days,' he thought and the thought made him feel like an Elder. Gah, he hoped not. He still had so much to do for his Clan. The upcoming war, for one. Such dark times, for such young warriors. Stormcry almost wanted to ask Milkfur's thoughts on the recent times, the situation between the Clans, but at the same time, he didn't want to pester her over things so dark.

"It's not good to keep everything bottled up, you know." Milkfur said calmly, knowing there was more to the story that Stormcry was letting on. "Oh, and thanks! It was an easy catch." She licked one forepaw and drew it over her ear.
"I may be wrong, but...is it this whole buissness with Thunderclan that's got you worried?" She set her paw down on the springy ferns and shook her head sadly. "It's so sad, that cats that were once all family find such darkness in their hearts." Milkfur had been in her good share of fights and battles, but this...this was just insane! This war was pointles, and would only result in four bitter, battle-scarred clans. Duskstar was a fool if he thought he'd come out victorious.

Stormcry
Sadly, she seemed to have caught on to what had him bothered and asked the question he'd been pushing away. Sighing, he answered, "Yes, that's part of it young'un. I don't know how he thinks he can get away with all of it. I even wonder why StarClan has let Duskstar do this, didn't they? If StarClan had disapproved of his threats, they would've covered the moon that night and I was on guard duty. The moon still shown bright, I remember. I wonder if maybe, they want a new war, if this was meant to be? Bah, I sound like an Elder." Waving his tail dismissivly at his own thoughts, before sitting down heavily, grumpy with himself. He knew what he was, he was a Warrior for ShadowClan. Whatever StarClan had planned, it wasn't for him to worry about. He just had to do what he was trained to do, what he was bred to do, what he was born to do. He'd defend his Clan, with his life, if need be.

Milkfur padded over to Stormcry and laid her tail on his shoulder.
"Don't fret. It may be confusing now, but Starclan have a master plan for all of us. All of this is happening for a reason. It's sad, and many cats will die; it's not a guess, it's a fact of clan life." She lifted her head to look at the sun, which was now creeping down the sky towards the horizon. "Even I'm confused, and scared. I don't want to die, i feel that I havn't given all that I can to my clan, but I know that if I do die, I'll have many clan mates to keep fighting for me. And that's what comforts me. And don't worry," She added, her voice hinting at mischieviousness, "I'd join the elders just as soon as you, young'un."
