[Marshflight]
Dawn had brought the warm sensation of light through to the chilled earth of ShadowClan territory, sending rays of weak yellow light down upon the thankful mottled tom. It had been growing steadily colder, and ever grayer as Green-leaf began to wilt with the leaves and flowers. Marshflight was on his way to the camp, fresh-kill clamped firmly in his large jaws. The Plump squirrel and two mice hardly filled his jaws, but he had already been out for a long while now and with little to show for his efforts. There was still prey running well, considering leaf-fall had begun not a few moon-rises ago, but catching it was a different story. He was still stiff from the cool night, and it had left him a little clumsy at best.
The still cold earth sent numb prickled through his paws, and in an attempt to warm himself he quickened his pace to a fast trot, careful to watch his paw steps as he came upon a very rooted part of his journey back. It was early still, and so some frost still desperately clung to the smooth surfaces of the tree’s lifelines. His tail twitched slightly, and he knew he should slow his pace. He had slipped more then once from lingering frost. But the tom was anxious to get back and set his catch back on the fresh-kill pile. The earlier patrols would have something warm to keep them going then, and it was better then eating the stiff prey from last dusk, though he knew that any prey StarClan was grateful enough to share with them would not be wasted.
Breath fogged the path in front of him, and the unorthodox dripping of the melting layer of frost kept his senses sharp. His easily leapt over the twisted jumble of roots that lay in his path, and he soon grew more accustom to frosty air as his body began to obey his commands faster and with more speed and grace. Another jump landed his front paws awkwardly on a wide span of roots, and cursing slightly under his breath he did his best to regain his balance as his momentum sent him sprawling forward. To late now, for the tom’s catch went flying and its captor follow suit, pain shooting through on of his front paws as it twisted under him.
“Mousedung.” He growled, teeth gritted as he quickly found his paws once more, though down one as his right front paw pulsed and throbbed. Far as he could tell it was only a sprain at the worse, probably just twisted it in his fall. Balancing upon three legs he shook his pelt awkwardly, sending clumps of wet earth flying in all directions. He would have to wash once he returned back to camp.
Limping forward he retrieved his prey, all pieces now starting to grown chilled from being in contact with the ground. Grasping them once more in his jaws Marshflight continued on his way, at this point having to take his sweet time to avoid the slippery roots.

He had finally gotten back, and even later then he had first thought he would. The sun was now burning brightly in the clear sky, giving the frosty early dawn a new splendor as its warmth dried away any sign of the troublesome substance. Marshflight couldn’t help but let a small chuckle as he thought back not more then a while ago. Slipped on frost, indeed! He bore no hostile feelings though, and even now as his paw still troubled him he felt only humor at the memory. How I must have flew…
Padding down into the depression in the heart of a pine bunch Marshflight limped down the tunnel of bushes, glad to feel the regular swish of their boughs against his pelt. He saw that the dawn patrol had already left, obvious, seeing what time it was. The tom dwelled little on the subject though, and as he set down his catch he found that he was one of the first to bring back fresh prey. This lightened his mood a little as he began to limp towards the medicine cat’s den, or more should he say Skyfire’s den.

The light breeze blew the strong squirrel scent straight into Pollenwind's nose. She inhaled deeply, tracing the location. Well, she was probably going to miss it anyway. The little suckers were fast. But, nonetheless, Pollenwind padded in the direction of the squirrel. Then she could see it, it's red coat standing out against the undergrowth. She dropped instinctively into her hunter's crouch, and silently approached it. When she was a few feet away, she sprung! And... missed. Humph, that sounded about right. Pollenwind always got the short end of the stick. She sighed, and turned to head back to camp. All this failure was making her hungry. At least the sun felt nice on her pelt... OW!! Pollenwind glared at her foot... Which had a thorn in it. Wonderful. She sighed loudly. Yet more proof everyone was out to get her. Muttering under her breath, Pollenwind turned to limp back to camp, preyless. Great, now everyone was going to laugh at her.
*
Pollenwind brushed into the ShadowClan camp, ignoring the delicious smells wafting off the fresh kill pile and heading for Skyfire's den. Then she noticed Marshflight heading in the same direction. What a coincidence. Pollenwind frowned lightly. Now she was going to have to wait longer. She limped forwards to the entrance. "Hi there, Marshflight. What happened to you?" she asked, noticing he smelt of prey. Oh, so she was the only one who hadn't caught anything.

[Marshflight]
Marshflight frowned a little, wondering if his injury was worth taking up Skyfire’s time. It was just a twisted paw after all. He decided it was best to check it out anyway, you could never be too careful. Well, most of the time anyway. He had come to the entrance of the large den now and was just about to duck inside when he heard a familiar voice. His ears swiveling behind him he turned, only seeing thin air as he looked back and forth. He blinked a few times, wondering if his eyes had deceived him, but then he realized who the voice belong to.
And so he turned his face downward, his pale orbs now being able to define the small shape of Pollenwind. A young warrior she-cat who he had seen around, but he had never really talked to her before. “Ah, hello Pollenwind.” His dipped his great head in greeting, eyes narrowed slightly with respect. The she-cat seemed slightly frustrated, Marshflight could simply tell from looking at her face. He kept quiet though, everyone had their bad days no?
Upon her words the mottled tom let out a small chuckle. “A tree thought it would be a funny trick to trip me while out hunting. Remember to watch out for them.” He really couldn’t help but feel light hearted, how could you not with such mild weather? He added afterward though a more reasonable answer. “I slipped while coming back on some frost. My paw might be strained, but nothing serious.” His body moved aside to allow the small she-cat to pass through beside him. “Yourself?” He began to limp into the den, every few pawsteps attempting to put some weight upon his injured paw. He grimaced, but was relived to find he could at least place his paw gingerly on the packed earth and apply some pressure before he had to snatch it up again. “You’ve been out hunting I presume?” He made small talk, knowing the she-cat couldn’t be too far behind him. “The prey seems to be running well despite Leaf-fall’s coming. I think Leaf-bare should be mild this time around.” He knew he was starting to ramble on but the quiet was making him uncomfortable. Though he only showed this with a few twitches of his pearl colored whiskers.
It was only moments later that he stepped into the medicine den. At first glance it was empty, maybe Skyfire was out collecting herbs or something? Whatever he was doing Marshflight busied himself with gently lifting his paw to inspect it. Upon turning it over to see the pad the tom discovered a small scrape almost between one of his claws. The surrounding area was tender to the touch and it didn’t at all look clean from his trek back through the damp earth.
Finding a spot to sit in the den he sat upon his haunches as he set about cleaning the small wound. The feeling of his rhythmic tongue sent shards of prickles through his paw but he ignored them, pain was something he could deal with if in such small amounts.
As he continued his cleansing the young warrior took in the unknown world around him. Medicine cat...Whats it like? The tom was just curious, for the cats that followed the guidelines of medicine almost seemed to have their own rules to follow. Not to say they didn't count as warriors, any cat in the clan would always be considered as a warrior one way or another. He shoved these thoughts to the back of his mind though, and waited patiently for Skyfire to appear, taking the time to look at all the different leaves and berries the den carried, and wondering what they all did.
[Edit- Should we move this to the medicine den? Or is it not necessary?]

Pollenwind smiled as Marshflight warned her about the trees. Yeah, trees could be dangerous, she supposed. Especially in storms. She'd heard tales about more than one leader lose a life after saving cats from falling trees. "Yourself?" Marshflight asked. Pollenwind grimaced. "The forest's been playing tricks on me too," she admitted, grinning. "I missed a squirrel and stood on a thorn." Marshflight had such a happy presence... Pollenwind couldn't help but joke. Pollenwind followed Marshflight into Skyfire's den, and settled across the room from him in one of the small nests ept there for sick cats. Unnessesary, yes, but more comfortable than the dirt floor. Her pelt was messy enough as it was, no point making it harder to clean later. Pollenwind noticed Marshflight cleaning his wound, and thought that was a good idea. She lifted her tender paw, licking around the thorn to clean it. Yuck, that tasted disgusting. Her nose wrinkled in irritation. But she persisted. She kept licking until the pad of her foot was soft and pink again. Hopefully, that would make it easier for Skyfire to get the thorn out. Pollenwind really hated getting thorns pulled out though! She always wriggled. But good thing was, Skyfire was so kindhearted and usually didn't complain.

Skyfire trotted into his den, his mouth crammed with herbs and cobwebs. He set them down, took one look at the pair of cats, and asked, "My goodness, what did you do to your paw Marshflight? I suppose the elders will have to wait. Pollenwind, are you here to help or do you have something I need to attend to as well?" Briskly, he stepped forward to investigate first Marshflight, then Pollenwind. "A thorn, eh?" he purred when he looked at her paw. "Sit still then. I'll have this out in a second. Make sure you lick it afterword. You should be fine by the time I'm done with Marshflight," he said. Gently, he gripped the tip of the thorn in his teeth before giving a swift tug. The thorn slid out easily, and Skyfire quickly disposed of it. He then turned to Marshflight. After inspecting his paw more throughly, he said gently, "I'm going to give you a poppy seed or two. Tell Sharpfang to go easy on the patrols with you. If you're having any pain or other problems, don't hesitate to come see me. That's what I'm here for, after all," he purred. "Lucky for you, I just got some palm fronds from the twoleg place a few sunhighs ago to wrap that paw up in!" Skyfire slipped into his den, reappearing a few seconds later with the long leaves. With practiced ease, he wrapped the paw up, trying not to make it too stiff. "There! If you two need me, I'll ve with the elders," he announced, purring softly at the cats.

Pollenwind nodded to Skyfire politely as he padded into his den, his mouth full of healing things. Cobwebs. Would she need one of those? He gave Marshflight and Pollenwind a quick look, and must have decided Pollenwind would be quicker to deal with. Pollenwind lifted her paw up, and braced herself for the rip. She heard the almost inaudible sound of Skyfire's teeth closing around the thorn, and the tearing sound as he pulled it out in one sure, swift motion. OW! Pollenwind grimaced in pain, clenching her teeth together to stop herself from yowling. Following Skyfire's advice, the young warrior began to lick her paw rapidly, washing away the blood and dirt. She could hear Skyfire's murmurs as he instructed Marshflight on treating his paw. There, done. Pollenwind nodded in satisfaction. "Thankyou, Skyfire," she mewed gratefully. Now, a snack and a rest and Pollenwind would be fine. Nodding once again to both of them, Pollenwind turned and padded out.

[Marshflight]
The molted tom purred quietly as she revealed how her trick had been played, today he believed, was going to be a pretty good day, aside from their two injuries of course. His whiskers twitched as he thought back to his apprentice days, he often had to come the comforting den before him for thorns or scrapes. Training was difficult, and at times a little self abusive but he had loved it all the same. Now that his paw was quite clean he turned to his coat, being careful to hold his pad off the earthy ground as he groomed. Upon lifting his head Marshflight could see that Pollenwind had followed suit with the wound cleaning, and even from this distance Marshflight could see the thorn. It looked pretty big, and he felt himself inwardly cringe at the sight. Pollenwind didn’t seem daunted though, and was determinedly cleaning around the visible hilt.
It was then that Marshflight heard the gentle tapping of paw steps, and turning to the den’s entrance it wasn’t long before Skyfire came trotting in. Marshflight nodded respectfully to the tom before his eyes traveled to the medicine cat’s mouth. Looking at all the herbs and cobwebs Marshflight began to hope what he had wasn’t to serious, he really had better get back to hunting and patrols after all. At Skyfire’s question Marshflight let out a good-natured purr. “Ah its just those trees again, always tripping cats when they aren’t looking.” He more or less repeated what he had told Pollenwind, rather much liking the idea that a tree had tripped him then him having slipped on frost. Skyfire was quick with Pollenwind, and in no time he had the thorn gripped tightly between his teeth.
After disposing of the offending object Skyfire came over to inspect Marshflight’s paw more thoroughly, and the tom gladly held his paw out for the medicine cat. He wondered if the poppy seeds were really necessary after hearing the gentle tom’s list, but he obediently licked up what was offered and then waited patiently as the tom disappeared into his herb store. Upon his arrival back, with large fronds clamped in his jaws Marshflight’s ears flicked uneasily. He really didn’t think all this was necessary; it was just a small scratch after all. But once again he didn’t argue and simply let the medicine cat do his duty, he took to mind all the things he was telling him as well, though he didn’t think the injury would slow him down to much. A quiet mew alerted him that Pollenwind had left, he could now hear her paw steps fading as she trotted out back to the clearing. He would be following her soon, as Skyfire announced that he was done.
“Ah, thank you.” The tom mowed, testing out paw. He was glad to find that he felt no pain at his paw’s contact with weight. He looked back to the medicine cat his ears flicking gratefully. “Feels good as new, thanks again Skyfire.” He dipped his head once more to medicine cat and gingerly set out on his way to the den’s entrance. “Oh, if you need any help with the elders just call.” Marshflight meowed back over his shoulder, turning once more to the entrance before walking out back into the sun filled clearing of the ShadowClan camp.
[OoC]Should we end here? I kinda want Marshflight and Fallensong to meet soon XD And I can't have like three threads with meh kitty on here at a time. What do you think Silver? Ready to RP some Fallensong with meh?
