--LOOKS // [/b]He's handsome, there's no denying that. Taro's overall fur color is gold, though when it grows out in winter it appears to be more orangeish. His muzzle is white, and he has a patch of white on his chest. His only other marking is one white back paw. It's true that his fur isn't just one color; it's comprised of many shades that alternately become lighte and darker in various places on his body. (Such as his nape and head, which are slightly lighter colors than the rest of his body.) Taro's pelt hue is nothing special, just a normal forest cat. However, if you look closely you can see some faint stripes breaking the fur. That's the pattern which makes him a tabby, although it's mostly only apparent on his tail; the rest of him appears to be solid-colored.
The texture of his fur is thick and shaggy. He's not long-haired and heavy; just a medium length, but still rather disheveled. Taro thinks it's his trademark to appear to be messy-haired. It gives him a certain boyish charm, to add to his already charming personality. Taro's fur provides good protection in battle; long hair acts like armor on a cat. Which is the reason that a lot of his scars are hidden, though some still stick it. The most prominent one is a large zig-zag on his chest. A badger had ripped his chest open once and nearly killed him; the scar is still hairless. The pink flesh exposed there isn't as tender as it used to be, but it's his major weakness. If a cat bites into there, blood will start gushing uncontrollably since it's unprotected. That's why he's developed several fighting maneuvers to keep his chest hidden in battle.
--PERSONALITY // [/b]Taro is one chill cat. He is unbelievably free-spirited and takes what life throws at him with a laid-back demeanor, as if challenging the world. Although he's not clueless, and in fact very learned of the world, Taro still thinks life is a wonderful adventure. He hates the predictability of Clan life, which is why he left. You could probably say Taro's an adrenaline junkie: he loves the rush that comes with not knowing what'll happen next. He travels with a longing for excitement and challenges. The tom likes to flirt a lot, especially with Clan she-cats, since he knows they're prudish and don't warm up to cats outside their Clan. In a nutshell, he loves to tease she-cats just to see their reactions. Then again, what normal tom wouldn't? (Well, unless he was a Clan tom. Then he'd be too focused on finding a she-cat to, er, reproduce with and wowing her with all that romantic nonsense and whatnot. When really they just want to get with her.) You could think of Taro as a human teenager almost, a bundle of hormones. He doesn't believe in true love and won't be looking for it anytime soon. For this reason, although some she-cats might feel privileged by the attention he pays them, he doesn't care if he breaks a heart or two. After all, it's just a game to him, and he expects the other players to know that as well. (Taro's the kind to have a one-night stand and leave. So, ladies, if you're looking for a soulmate, you might want to skip this player.)
Taro is a blithe wastrel; he's unconcerned with wasting resources. In leaf-bare, prey is always scarce. So if he hunts something on Clan territory, kittypet territory, or another loner's territory, he'll take it even though it's technically not his. He won't give two fox-dungs about how less prey will affect the cat(s) he took it from; Taro will do whatever he can to survive. Even if it's at the expense of another cat's life. He likes life, and he plans to enjoy it to its fullest. He doesn't care about warrior codes and honor; maybe because he doesn't have any. The tom isn't low enough that he would sacrifice say, a pregnant she-cat or something to save himself -- he still has a sense of valor -- but he's not about to place himself in mortal danger for a strange cat he doesn't know. Taro is pretty intelligent; how else would he have been able to survive for so long? He knows that if a cat is fighting off a pack of foxes, then it's their own fault for wandering into a fox den, and they have to suffer the consequences of their stupidity. Brutal, but true, is it not?
Aside from that, Taro is still somewhat loyal to his family. He was born with a very nonchalant personality; nothing seems to faze him, nothing seems to surprise him. He left the Clans for no other reason than he was looking for a little more adventure. Some cats may think that's a stupid choice, and may be frustrated with his non-caring personality. But that's just the way Taro is. Maybe one day, if he ever cares about a cat enough (fall in love?) to be with them for more than a day at a time, he'll change and become more responsive. Until then, well, Taro's just a laid-back, reserved little cat.
