larksong. right the wrongs before i die.
Larksong loved her clan. She really did. But, when they had won and RiverClan yowled, she was not one of them. Something inside her felt empty somehow.
The senior warrior, respected but seldom liked, had always been somewhat of an outcast among her clanmates. She was always viewed as stern, anti-social or rageful, but really, all she was was quiet -- with a temper that really snapped once broken, that is.
However, she never felt like an outcast. Her family line was purely all RiverClan, quite a feat with so many half-clan incidents in history. And, she grew up with a pride in her clan like few others. Now, she truly felt like she just wasn't a RiverClan cat anymore. Inside, the tortoiseshell felt more like a loner than anything.
Sitting at the banks of the river was the one thing that made her cling to home. How soothing, the dribbling notes of trickling water, the familiar scent of fresh fish, the sparkle of the sun striking off the streams... It was one thing Larksong could never let go of and never get enough.
So, here the she-cat sat, contemplating her thoughts at the one place where she can simply escape the world. For, it wasn't the cats of RiverClan she prided herself in most dear, but it was the many little aspects of the place she called home, from the river to the floating dens that rose ever dutifully with every flood of water.
Yes, she thought, ShadowClan may take its revenge, RiverClan may eventually fall, but this land is mine and if there's any place I'd protect with my heart, it's this one.

Firestep saw Larksong sitting by himself,he had been patrolling the territory by himself that day because every one was celebrating, but the leader had sent him out to just be sure that nothing was on the boarders or in the territory. He was heading back when he sensed another cat nearby. He tilted his head not sure if he should interrupt her.He took a deep breathe then went up to her,"Hi Larksong. Why aren't you celebrating with everyone else?" he asked. He stood a yard away and just stared at her, waiting for her response. He sat down and looked at the spot where she was looking at the banks, trying to figure out in his mind why she wasn't as happy as the rest of the clan about defeating the Shadowclan cats.He himself honestly didn't care, all he just wanted was to keep the territory safe,he didn't care about the murder of it all.

larksong sometimes being yourself means changing yourself "Hi, Larksong. Why aren't you celebrating with everyone else?" a voice rang from out back.
The tortoiseshell whipped around to see Firestep a couple tail-lengths away, staring and waiting for her response. She felt her insides boil with annoyance, but the she-cat squelched the irksomeness. Still, her eyes narrowed. "I should be asking the same for you," she mewed quietly in response and turned away as soon as the words left her mouth, back to staring at the funny serenity of the rippling water. OOC; This post is obviously shorter than my usual. Sorries. ^^ I'm still getting back into the hang of things and my brain is a little fried...

"The clan leader told me to make sure that no trespassing cats were on our territory,"he spat as a a matter of factually voice. All I did was try to be nice," he hissed under his breathe."Fine all leave you alone," he kept his voice level as he turned away with a flicker of his tail.He walked causally but was really waiting to see what Larksong would really do.His red looking coat reflected off the water,he saw him self and didn't think much if it, knowing he would end up seeing it again, the only weird thing about it was that he didn't see himself,it was his father, but more big and stronger looking, he reached out his paw,but he once again saw himself, hissing in annoyance he kept walking back to camp around Larksong and to the entrance ,listening carefully.
Sorry it's sucky!

ooc; It's fine. :3 With a little work, I'm sure you'll get better at it. ;] LARKSONG "The clan leader told me to make sure that no trespassing cats were on our territory," spat Firestep matter-of-factly, much to Larksong's surprise. "All I did was try to be nice," he hissed, "Fine, I'll leave you alone." The tom turned his back on the calico with a flick of the tail, ambling away in a casual manner that struck the she-cat awkward for the sudden display he had shown earlier.
How irkful, toms these days, thought Larksong with a sigh, You have to wonder what goes on in that squirrely brain of theirs to cause them to swing moods in such ways. The senior warrior was planning to resume her meditative position of thinking beside the water, but she was feeling rather irritating today, and thus she retorted, "I never asked you to leave. I had only questioned your presence."
She could almost feel a smile perking at the edges of her lips. It's been a while since she's been her smart-alecky self as much as her temper has stayed with her all the way through the battles. Although Larksong did not turn around to see Firestep's reaction for herself, she had a feeling it would not be pleasant and decided to simply take joy in the assumption, the blessing of ignorance, what not. Silently, she waited for the fellow warrior's response, mind wheels turning already in anticipation of the next retort. [/size]

There was another that couldn't quite stand the celebrations of their Clan... Goodness this was odd for a little Apprentice. Usually whatever thrilled most of their Clan thrilled them! But no... To little Morningpaw, this was all wrong. The whole battle, everything. Why were they trying to take ShadowClan's territory? Hadn't she been taught that there needed to be four Clans in the forest to keep things the way they were supposed to be? Wasn't she taught to respect StarClan's wishes? Didn't StarClan wish things to continue the way they meant them to? And yet Riverstar and Cranefeather said they should take ShadowClan's land and even WindClan's if it came to that... They said that RiverClan and ThunderClan should rule the forest... And that we should all join as one Clan. They said that ShadowClan was not willing... That they were bad. But she saw Sharpstar... He didn't seem all that bad to her. As far as she could see, he only wanted to protect his Clan and his lands... Right?
Morningpaw sighed as she wandered off from Camp. Unknowingly her paws carried her toward the river and Larksong. As she was growing up, Larksong seemed to be one of the few that made sense. Sure she was a bit grumpy sometimes, but Morningpaw found herself consistantly seeking her out for guidance. (Hope that's alright to say as we haven't played out much of that ) These thoughts going through her mind should not come from one so young, and yet Morningpaw always did seem a bit beyond her Moons. Before long she glanced up and saw Larksong herself. She didn't yet see Firestep, but she wandered silently closer to Larksong, not yet saying a thing.(Hope it's ok if I crash your thread... <3)

Firestep listened to her reply, knowing she thought proud."I didn't ask permission from you, but I don't want some other cat to bring down to her level of sourness,"he hissed "besides,"he continued," what's up your ear?",he then saw the little apprentice and quickly calmed himself. His fur lye flat again and he leveled out his voice, but his eyes were still full of rage."Hello Morningpaw,"he nodded at her then looked at Larksong,a flash in his eye as he apologized. He stood there to wait for both of they're response.Females theses days,he thought to himself as he waited."Now what?" he hissed as he got scent of something he didn't recognize. Two legs?He wasn't sure."Do you smell that?" he asked the other two as he felt it start to drift around them.

Larksong...Unbeknownst to the tom, Larksong was thinking in a similarly negative manner about his gender. Toms these days, she sighed to herself yet again at Firestep's moodiness. One moment he was hissing and challenging the torn state of her ear, the next he was calmed and apologizing, and then, yet again, Firestep was hissing as if something malodorous was in the air.
Now, on the last one, Larksong couldn't object to. To Morningpaw, she nodded a kind silent, "Hello," with a flick of her tail. At first she was about to wonder why the dear apprentice was here, but then her nose caught scent of the something-suspicious and she was narrowing her eyes along with the hissing Firestep.
"Do you smell that?" asked the tom as the stench grew ever-stronger.
"Of course. It's impossible not to," replied Larksong, hair beginning to bristle. With her ears she heard the gentle-but-loud splishy noises of a twoleg river monster swimming. "Hide," she hissed as she saw the brown, tree-bark-colored triangular blob in the distance, "Quick, go!"
The calico darted backwards from the river and ducked herself under a bush, beckoning Morningpaw to come along. Firestep could take care of himself. He was a warrior, and Larksong had a dislike for him, anyway.
She held her breath and peaked between the cracks of the shrub in wait of the thing that (she did not know this, but) twolegs called a 'rowboat'.
