((ooc: Do voles hibernate?))
Shiverpaw sat calmly along the edge of the river, on the RiverClan side. She loved this spot. It has always been so peaceful in this spot for her, like a second home. It was her place.
But she was here for one reason, and one reason only. To fish, if the river isn't frozen, and to hunt if it is. Now, it was indeed frozen, but not very deep. Just a little bit of pressure would break it. But the water would be extremely cold. Therefore, she decided that hunting would be a better idea.
She went on to go to a better area along the banks to hunt. It wouldn't be easy, and chances were she would come back with no prey. But she tried anyway, testing the air and following even the older leads. Any leads would be better than none. She could suddenly smell a water vole in its burrow, but she didn't know how to get it out. She reached a paw into the burrow, but her leg wasn't long enough to reach down this tunnel.
Then, suddenly, she had an idea. She walked back to the river and carefully broke the ice with her front paw, and then she tipped her tail into the frigid cold water.
She went back to the burrow, and tucked her frozen cold tail as far down as she could, ringing the water out as the burrow narrowed. She yanked it out, and caught the escaping vole. It was very scrawny, but it would have to do. It would probably be the only thing she caught on this trip.

(OOC: I'm not quite sure. I think they like to stay in their holes durring cold weather, but as for hibernation I don't think so. By the way I'm having Celticstream come in if thats okay with you.)
IC: Celticstream silently on her delicate silver paws padded lightly through the snow drifts towards the river. Her beautiful long silver fur made her look as if she could be a cat of Silverpelt. Her unusual blue eyes narrowed as a chilling gust of wind swept brushing past her face. Saddly she knew today that the river would be frozen so maybe this could give her time to hunt elsewhere.
She smiled as she watched Shiverpaw catch a vole. It may have been scrawny but that still meant the clan wouldn't go hungry today. She hoped that her hunting would bring her luck too. She caught Shiverpaw's eye and smiled warmly, "G'day lass, Fine hunting tis be? Hope I 'ave luck in catchin' them too!" She softly mewed with greetings.
She stood up from the snow drift she was sitting on. Although it was cold Celticstream was least bothered by it. Her long fur was warm plus not to mention with the shade it was it blended in well with the snow. Her prey didn't stand a chance.
(OOC: Who I didn't know what to write! XD By the way Celticstream has a slight Irish accent.)

((ooc: Hehe. Interesting. Shiverpaw also have that same kind of fur. It only shows the same way at night. Otherwise it is just plain white.))
Shiverpaw jumped slightly at the Warriors sudden appearance. She normally heard when a cat was close by. But she didn't mind. She was probably just a tad jumpy. The past moon hadn't been the best one. First, she nearly lost a battle with a nosy WindClan apprentice, then got snapped at by another warrior, and then found the SAME WindClan apprentice, once again on the wrong side of the boundary line, badly injured and dying. He had, after being saved, joined RiverClan. But she was thinking too much. No she had to have a conversation with a hope-fully friendly RiverClan warrior. She had been suspicious of everyone recently.
Then Celticstream spoke. "G'day lass, Fine hunting tis be? Hope I 'ave luck in catchin' them too!" Then Shiverpaw replied. "Not the best hunting I have ever had, but it IS no-leaf." She then started to bury her prey in the cold soil, should she be lucky and find any more, so that she could get it later.
Now she casually walked toward the warrior, sitting down slowly once she got to her. It was weird, but she was actually warm in this weather. She had always been told no-leaf was dreadfully cold. Oh well. She flicked her tail once or twice when she sat down, and was now awaiting a friendly conversation. She had to go see her mentor soon...

Celticstream smiled warmly at the younge apprentice who shared the same thickness and color of pelt as her. "Not very cold, are ye?" She murmered to Shiverpaw in her pretty, casual voice. "Nor I am cold when it comes down to weather like t'is, it helps so much to 'ave a long warm pelt." She smiled down at the apprentice. She stood up and stretched, yawning. Her eyes scanned the terrain.
The landscape was cold and frozen. Snow blanketing the ground in thick, cold, white sheets. She stood up and padded forward. Snow crunched and packed together under each pawstep and moister was in the air indicating a storm later on. Her eyes studied the sky. That was no lie a thick, deeply shaded cloud stretched above them. The snowflakes could be expected by moon high Celticstream thought.
"A storm be comin' t'is way." She warned the younge apprentice with wisdom engraved through her voice. "We must catch some prey if our clan is expected to live, Care to join me with huntin'?"

This warrior, now that she looked closer, DID look a lot like her. The same pretty, long white fur, the same blue eyes... It was almost frightening, like a mirror image, just one that showed you in the future. She even seemed to have the same grasp of knowledge as Shiverpaw, just more because she was older. Shiverpaw shuddered at the idea.
"I would love to join you, Celticstream. I would hate to make the elders starve. If we stay close to the stream we should find more prey. They tend to stay close to water sources." And Shiverpaw started again to head along the river, sniffing for any source of food. The water was VERY cold, and now her tail was freezing. After just a few steps, she sat down to get the water out of her fur. Yes, thick fur did help a lot against the cold, but not when it was wet. Soaking her tail wasn't the best idea, but that was one less starving cat. She hoped she had food to eat this time. Ravenclaw still wanted to take her out training today, so she would have to hurry. But the water in her fur was SO stubborn.
"Hey Celticstream, do you know how to dry wet fur?" This would be aggravating.

Celticstream once again flashed another briliant smile towards the young apprentice after she said, "I would love to join you, Celticstream. I would hate to make the elders starve. If we stay close to the stream we should find more prey. They tend to stay close to water sources." Celticstream nodded, "Aye, so young but so intelligant? Yes?" she mewed with friendlyness complimenting Shiverpaw. Celitcstream flicked her tail "Then off we go for huntin'!"
Celticstream studdied the cold land. The voles would be in their holes today. Perhaps she would have to patiently wait for them to come out. She looked over at Shiverpaw, the young apprentice was fussing about her tail.
"Hey Celticstream, do you know how to dry wet fur?" Shiverpaw asked. Celticstream looked at her seriously, "Well not nesesscarily, long thick fur has a tendancy to soaked longer... I'm affraid. But try not to make the mistak again, you don't want to 'ave the chills do ye?" Celticstream replied. "Despite being wet, are you cold? 'Cause if you are I'd advise maybe not hunt?" She added thoughtfully.
((Yikes! Once again I didn't know what to write! xD))

((ooc: Yes, rping with Shiverpaw has a tendency to run you out of ideas. I just make stuff up. XD))
Shiverpaw nodded to Celticstream. Since her tail had a while to dry yet, she might as well continue to use it to catch prey... "My tail is cold, but other than that I am fine. Besides, if having a cold tail is the price I pay to feed my clan, I can deal with it! And even if I get sick, one of the cats won't have to go hungry. We have to do this." She dipped her tail in the river once again after she said this, and held it low to the ground so that her body would block some of the winds hitting her tail. She could get warm later. After all, her name WAS Shiverpaw! She could handle the cold.
She proceeded to sniff the area for a vole hole, hoping that Celticstream followed. She didn't mind if Celticstream thought she was crazy for doing this. Most of the smarter cats were considered slightly crazy. Especially elders. Most cats didn't see that those they called crazy would be their guide to knowledge...
Shiverpaw decided that she would focus on the task on hand. Her thoughts weren't important at the moment, only the clan was. Now was time to hunt... To survive...

Celticstream nodded to Shiverpaw. "Well,... we still can't 'ave you getting sick..." Celticstream fretted like a mother over her kits. But decideing that Shiverpaw was built to deal with the cold like her she added, "However if your fine with it, then we shall continue huntin'!" She sniffed arround a few of the holes were the voles were usually spotted. She sat steady, she would wait for them to come out.
She could hear the small pattering of one of there hearts. She pricked her ears listening intently. He was slowly climbing out of his hole. He was certainly unsure if he wanted too, almost as if he knew his own death was near. Celticstream pressed closer to the snow if to camoflaugh herself. The small unsuspecting vole sticked his head out of the hole. He was scrawny just like all of the cats durring leafbare. He too was hungry and willing to pay any price for food.
Then, quickly, he darted out. Celticstream was immediatly up and on his trail. Almost slipping on ice but thankfully she didn't. She ran and pounced. She deliverd a deadly bite to the back of his neck. It was a swift clean kill. She threw her head back in Shiverpaw's dirrection. "Aye look at this kill!" She called out. " Now thats proper huntin' techniques!" She murrowed proudly.

Shiverpaw signaled with her tail to have Celticstream hush for a moment. She had sniffed out a vole hole, and was preparing to flush the vole out. She stuck her tail down he hole and... OW! It bit her! They shouldn't be biting... But she managed to get it out, and she killed it swiftly. "I'm not having as much luck as I thought I was..." Shiverpaw commented. "Did you know they bit?!?"
She didn't care. She went and re-dampened her tail. They hurt when they bit, but she still needed to look for more. This would be slightly entertaining. She might have to go see Swanfeather after this. But they HURT when they bite...
"Can we go back to camp now? I have to meet with Ravenclaw soon." She said. She was almost late, because it was almost sun-high. She had to go.
