Get up and seize the day! ~Mojo Jojo
This plan was going along perfectly. The RiverClan cats had been devastated by the lie Cranefeather had told - rouges had attacked, and Riverfleet and Cranefeather had been hunting when they heard the screeches of fighting cats. Silverstar was on her last life and the two warriors had leapt to her defence, suffering terrible injuries and managing to drive the ferocious invaders off. But Silverstar had suffered more than they and died of blood loss. They had been too weak to carry her body back, and when they returned, the body had disappeared - taken by foxes or something, the senior warriors guessed. Anyway, the most important part for now was playing his part, so he was off to find his new apprentice, Smokepaw. He poked his had inside the apprentice's den. "Smokepaw, get a move on!" he called, and padded a few tail-lengths away. Hopefully this first training session would go well.

...S mokepaw:..: I can't feel my paws! Smokepaw shook his head wildly in shock. His whole body felt numb, and his heart was racing badly. And to think that all this was happening around the day of his first training session! Oh StarClan, how was he to concentrate? There just wasn't enough room in his mind to make space for training. All that was there was shock; total shock. Oddly, he couldn't feel the grief. Is my head numb too? he thought to himself guiltily. Why couldn't he feel sad? Why isn't he mourning?
I just can't believe that Silverstar is really dead... was the heart-breaking thought that came. His fur sticking up and his ears folded back, the smokey-gray tom cuddled down into a ball and began to nap. Afterall, a good rest to soothe his mind was just what he need. The soft bedding was ideal, and the lingering scent of Larksong, his sister, was very comforting. If only she was still here in his den...The warrior had left earlier ago to go on a patrol, and Smokepaw was left alone again. But then, suddenly a loud voice startled him.
"Smokepaw, get a move on!" he heard. It was his mentor, Cranefeather. 'How lucky you are to have such a noble mentor like him,' was what his denmates say. However, Smokepaw wasn't so sure. He swished his tail and sighed, and then quickly padded outside to meet with his mentor.

I may not believe in regrets But I believe in self assurance Some things I'd rather forget We see what we choose and We choose what we see to believe
Cranefeather heard a faint sigh, and moments later, Smokepaw's head appeared. Cranefeather sized up his new apprentice. He was standard RiverClan stuff - lean and slim, but strong for swimming. He looked strong though, and would make a good fighter. Cranefeather looked forward to training him. But first, he had to gain his trust. 'Hey, Smokepaw, I know you're probably upset about Silverstar and everything..." he started, "And I am too, and so are the rest of the warriors. But the Clan has to go on. Do you want to do a little hunting?" he asked, trying his best to sound kind and understanding. And, if he might say so himself, he thought his best was pretty good. But hopefully the prospect of some fun hunting would cheer Smokepaw up - he seemed pretty gloomy, and Cranefeather couldn't understand why.

[ooc; it's okay ^_^ i'm having the same problem D:] ...S mokepaw:..: Smokepaw perked up at the sound of hunting. It was a good idea, and it may help shake off some of that grief off of him as well. However, he just can't help but to notice an ominous tone lurking behind the words. Don't think about it, he thought, shaking his head. "That's...fine," the apprentice said at last, and padded ahead toward the stream. Then, something tapped on his shoulder.
"Huh?" Smokepaw thought out loud. Then it happened again. Tap... And then another; and another; and another. Tap....Tap...Tap..Tap; tap; tap; tap; tap; tap...! Suddenly rain was pouring out of the sky, drenching the smokey tom in rain. Mouse dung! he spat in his mind, And it was a beautiful day for hunting too! He whimpered quietly outloud and shook his fur wildly as water continued to shower over his bodice.
Looks like the day was getting worse by the minute.

Cranefeather glanced up towards the sky when the dripping started, only to be rewarded with a face full of water. He growled and looked back at Smokepaw. "Damn rain," he sighed. "We could go hunt at the river, maybe? If we dive underwater, I doubt we'll notice the wet. What do you think?" He hoped that Smokepaw would agree - this was just so awkward. He couldn't help but think Smokepaw was seeing through him a little. Fishing would distract them both. He just couldn't believe his luck. He was actually looking forward to hunting with his apprentice. A little. Was this StarClan's way of punishing him? He frowned privately.
