I saw blood, Hold my tongue, I'll keep you number one, Straight keeping faith In the face of the world The thrush's scent was absolutely mouthwatering. It saturated the humid air. Pollenwind licked her lips in anticipation, dropping her tiny body into the traditional bird-hunting pose. She slinked forwards, being careful not to let her tortiseshell fur brush any leaves and startle the bird. Oh, she wasn't going to get it. Nope, nope, nope. She sprang forwards anyway, landing a mouse-tail short. The bird took off, but Pollenwind swiped it out of the air with her paw. The bird shrieked in alarm, causing the usually noisy fern area to fall silent. "Fox-dung," Pollenwind cursed. Now everything edible would be hiding for ages. Well, at least she'd caught the thrush, which was surprisingly big for this time of year. But now she was even dirtier than usual - Pollenwind hated having to clean herself. Picking up her prize, the she-cat padded over to a relatively dry patch of ground and starting licking herself. The mud tastes absolutely disgusting. [/blockquote]

Ravenfur What's so fun about acting grown up? A small dark figure slinked in and about of the pine trees, trotting at a steady pace. It has to be somewhere! Ravenfur thought. I know I left it by some pine tree earlier! How careless of me! The young warrior had just remembered about a piece of freshkill she caught and buried earlier this morning, more towards dawn, and it was sunhigh now. Hmph, I bet some other cat took it as their own! Stupid prey stealers . . . Ravenfur stopped and scented the air, smelling for the scent of her missing prey. It's probably rotten and full of maggots by now! Mousedung! How could I forget about it? The black she-cat scolded herself. Well, since I'm aout here I might as well- Ravenfur's thoughts were instantly stopped as she heard the squak of a bird.
What in StarClan . . . Ravenfur's ears pricked up in alarm to the noise, and her golden eyes surveyed the area, trying to find the source of the screech. The black she-cat padded towards some ferns and spotted a tortoiseshell hovering over a large brown thrush. "Why use such language when catching prey?" Ravenfur teased. She jumped over the ferns, walked over to Pollenwind and sat down beside her. "Dirty much?" Ravenfur teased again, looking at the brown spots of mud that were dappled on Pollenwind's black and orange fur.

Pollenwind glanced up when she heard a familiar voice teasing her. "Oh, hey, Ravenfur," Pollenwind greeted the young she-cat, shaking the last specks of mud out of her pelt. "The birds are noisy today, I think I've scared off all the prey in the whole forest!" She sighed - she wasn't actually sure if she was joking or not. Her nose twitched. She could smell something else. "Hey, can you smell that?" she asked, glancing around with wide apple-green eyes. What was it? Everything was too muddy for her to really be able to scent any prey. Argh.

RavenfurWhat's so fun about acting grown up?"Oh, I'm sure you dind't scare off all the prey in the forest. Just all the prey in ShadowClan." Ravenfur replied. Some of the mud that flung off of Pollenwind's coat landed on her, and she quickly removed the wet dirt from her long black fur. Ravenfur lifted her velvet black nose into the air and sniffed, but couldn't catch anything except the stink of mud. "No, I can't smell much at all through this stupid mud." Ravenfur mewed. Suddenly she remembered about the dead mouse. "Oh yeah! That reminds me. I went hunting earlier and I kind of forgot about a mouse that I buried and . . ." After replaying the words she said in her head, Ravenfur knew that she sounded stupid. How can you forget about a piece of prey?! Stupid mousebrain! The raven she-cat resisted the temptation to knock herself over the head with a log. "I bet that's what we're smelling." Ravenfur grumbled. After finding the source of the stench, she dug up the mouse. It was filled with dirt and no maggots were in it yet, but it was still disgusting to look at. The pathetic limpiness of its body made Ravenfur shudder. "Do . . . you think it's, um, okay to bring back to the Clan?" She asked Pollenwind, pawing the mouse. "Or should we just dump it somewhere? This is sure to attract flies." The black warrior sighed.[/blockquote]

Pollenwind watched with interest as Ravenfur dug up the mouse. Ugh, it did look kinda gross. Like anyone would want to eat that! "Ew, that's disgusting! Let's bury it, then no flies will get it." Otherwise poor Ravenfur would get in trouble. Pollenwind wasn't going to dig in mud, so she stepped off the dry spot and began digging until she had a shallow hole. "Put it in here," she told Ravenfur, "Because I'm pretty sure flies can't dig!"
