Rosethorn's eyes locked on the shrew in front of her, scrambling on the frozen ground. Step by careful step, she approached the unsuspecting creature. She paused, before lunging at the small prey. It's warning squeak was quickly cut off as Rosethorn bit down on it, ending its pitiful life. Briefly, she thanked StarClan for the catch, then buried it. She had doubts she would find anything else in this chilly weather, for the mice and birds that were ThunderClan's main diet had long ago found a warmer home. Even now, the grass crinkled under her paws, rigid with frost. When she sighed, she could see her breath curling in the air in front of her, dancing until it disappeared. Rosethorn fluffed out her thick fur, thankful for the plush undercoat. She paused, listening, but heard nothing except the river babbling in the distance. She continued on, eyes and ears alert for prey sounds.

*Graypaw*
A young silverish gray bengal tom was hunting in this woods as well. His name is Graypaw and his part of ThunderClan's apprentice's. He was only able to catch a rabbit that had ran over from WindClan's side of the border. The young apprentice was happy with his catch. He didn't really know what to do with it now. Graypaw knew he should burie it and continue his hunting. So Graypaw finally buried it and walked through some bushes. This lead him to run in to Rosethorn a warrior from his Clan. Graypaw's green eye's looked at her with wonder of what she was going to say to him.

Rosethorn had been so intent on looking for prey that she did not notice Graypaw until he was almost in her face. "Oh!" she cried, startled. "Graypaw! I didn't see you there. Out hunting, eh? Clan needs every piece of prey they can get this leaf-bare," she purred. Rosethorn listened one last time for something else to catch before giving in and settling herself in for a conversation. "Catch anything? I've been out here since dawn and so far all I've gotten is a simple shrew. I can tell its going to be a harsh leaf-bare," she sighed. Realizing she was rambling slightly, Rosethorn silenced herself, instead decided to search her mind for the name of Graypaw's mentor. The Clan had been so busy lately- what with Iceleaf disappearing and Midnightstar retiring- simple things like mentors and apprentices had slipped her mind.

Graypaw listened to the warrior like he was a cat of Rosethorns ages. He looked at her for a moment "I catch a rabbit that ran over from WindClan to Here" he said with a matter of fect tone instead of pride like most Apprentice's would have at telling a warrior of their Clan something like this. Graypaw was forced to grow up fast when his parents dead and he had to take care of his sister Silverpaw. He trained hard to become a warrior and he didn't care how Duskpelt trained him as long as he was trained. Graypaw looked at the sky, then started to slowly make a hole in the snow on the ground. The ground was very cold and yet he just ignored it like it wasn't even there. He saw that Rosethorn was very pretty and so a small blush crossed his muzzle "how you been doing Rosethorn" he asked with a small smirk. Graypaw was as big as Rosethorn and he was going to get bigger as he aged.

"Quite well, thank you," Rosethorn purred. "A little chilly, and a little hungry, but isn't everyone these days. Nothing to complain about!" she laughed. Her breath puffed in great clouds in front of her face, and she had an amused look on her face as she watched it twirl away. "And how are you, Graypaw?" she asked, bringing her attention back to earth. She peered at Graypaw a moment longer before her memories clicked. Graypaw was Duskpelt's apprentice. The poor boy had already lost his parents. She sobered a little, but kept her expression light and happy.

*Graypaw*
Green eye's looked at Rosethorn as he saw a flash of a look of sadness. He knew it was because she must have just remembered that he has had it hard. But Graypaw was a strong cat and he didn't need anyones pity "I'm doing fine, I have a mentor and we train good. I can't wait to get my warrior's name" he said like any other apprentice would. Graypaw covered things up and would try so by acting his age or not acting his age. It was confusing at times as to how to tell the differentance.

"That's great! I'm glad Duskstar is making time for you," Rosethorn purred. "I just don't know how he does it, managing a Clan and an apprentice. I had my paws full with training Shrubwhisker and normal Clan duties, and Shrubwhisker was the most obedient apprentice I've ever seen!" She laughed. "Are you and you're sister getting along ok? I know you two are close," she added after a moment of silence. Graypaw and Silverpaw are so much alike, she thought. The only difference is their eyes. Rosethorn thought briefly of her own siblings, and weither or not they would look like her if they were still alive. She shrugged, and fluffed out her fur against the creeping cold, shuffling her feet to keep warm.
