Rainpelt rolled luxuriously in the tall grass of the Yellow Plains, exposing her white belly to the sun. Not far off, Breezefur was plucking burrs from her long, velvety coat. "I miss the Nursery already," Breezefur halfheartedly complained, pulling out a thorn that had gotten tangled. Rainpelt rolled back onto her paws, sighing exasperatingly. "You're kits are half-grown! Why, the might even be warriors by Green-leaf!" Rainpelt rose to her paws, padding through the swaying grass. Breezefur hesitated before following her friend. "I know, I know... Oh, but it was such a joy to play with all the little ones, and I did try to help Windblaze when I could," Breezefur sighed, picking her way through the grass carefully, pulling her long tail close to her body. Rainpelt rolled her eyes, making sure Breezefur didn't see. She loved Breezefur and her kits dearly, but she always made such a fuss about them! They were almost as good as the warriors, but that didn't stop her friend from treating them as if they're apprentice ceremony was only the day before. Still, she did it with care and affection, and no one could doubt Breezefur was an excellent mother, even if the kits father was a story still unexplained.
Pausing, Rainpelt was startled by a lithe black figure leaping up onto a rock she had almost missed in the sea of grass. She grinned. "Well, well. Speaking of which." Quickly, Rainpelt dropped into a hunter's crouch, slinking toward the stone. Her pelt blended with the hues of the field, a wonderful golden honey color. Breezefur tried to flatter herself, aware of the trick Rainpelt was about to pull. When Rainpelt was within a yard of the rock, she suddenly rose and ran at it, before leaping to tackle poor Pantherpaw. "Surprise!" she cried, crashing into the apprentice and batting at her playfully.

Skyfire wound his way through the ferns, his steps lighter than they had been in days. A gentle, cooling breeze ruffled the leaves, making the trees sway and dance, a duet with the sunlight on the muddy floor. Skyfire breathed deeply, relishing the sweet, clean air after the fresh rain. New-leaf is certainly here he thought cheerfully, his black-spotted tail waving like a banner above him. He had gone out for a stroll, intending to gather some herbs that were only fresh around this time of year, but the day was so beautiful, the air moist after the rain, he had lost his working mind-set and was simply content to wander the territory. No troubling thoughts of sickness or war bothered him here, and his mind was floating higher than the clouds.
Which is probably why he almost stumbled over Pollenwind. He stumbled, his paws not reacting as fast as his mind. He muttered to himself as he slowly picked himself up, wincing as his aged muscles protested at his clumsiness. "I'm terribly sorry, Pollenwind! Are you quite alright?"

Ravenclaw stared out from the camp's entrance, his tired gold orbs looking at everything and nothing. It had been two seasons since Silverstar's death, and his pain seemed to reflect in the chaos of the forest. RiverClan, he felt, was rotting from the inside out, infected by a disease the knew no cure. Shaking his head, Ravenclaw tore his thoughts away from his sister, his friend. He had to look after the Clan, if only for her. Padding softly, so as to not wake any sleeping warriors, Ravenclaw entered the camp clearing, so familiar yet to alien to him, now. Muskflower was already awake, plucking a healthy fish from the fresh-kill pile and enjoying her breakfast. Feelings his own stomach rumble with hunger, he too selected a dish from the pile, eating slowly. Muskflower finished her meal, sitting near the warrior's den, a far-off look in her eyes. Unbidden, a chuckling purr rose from him.
"What are you thinking about today, Muskflower? Seems like you're always daydreaming these days!" he called, finished his meal and burying the remains. He padded up to her, his cheerful demeanor returned. He had a hunch he knew what she had been thinking about, but didn't dare say so out loud. Since Silverstar's death, he had been better able to contain his curiosity and watch events unfold before attacking others with questions and comments. He smiled ruefully, in that secret way cats do, and said teasingly, "Were you planning on going hunting today? Or were you going to listen to the elder's stories with the apprentices?"

"StarClan, this thing is as tough as ticks!" Shrubwhisker gasped, being shaken off as the fox bolted for its hole. A growl escaped him, but before he lunged after the intruder, he paused to glance at Jasperpaw. "Stay out of its reach!" he ordered, then pounded after the deputy. At first, the quick change from light to dark startled his senses, making him aware of nothing but the harsh scent of the fox, his own ragged breath, moist earth under his paws, and the feeling of claustrophobia. Shrubwhisker was a scrawny cat to begin with, and he still hadn't fully gotten all his fat that he lost during leaf-bare. Twisting around and churning up dirt, Shrubwhisker scrambled down to hole, relying on his whiskers to guide him. StarClan, the scent was overwhelming! Hissing like a snake, swiping at the fox's tail. The creature yelped and bolted, reemerging into the sunlight. Shrubwhisker lunged at its back, adrenaline pulsing through his veins.

Shrubwhisker paused at the edge of the Sunning Rocks, idly breaking the surface of the water with his paw. Weird. The river is unusually full. Stumbleknot will probably tell Duskstar when we return, he thought. Much to his surprise, Jasperpaw, whom had been a tail-length behind him, bolted off into the ferns. "Jasperpaw! Wait!" he called, jumping up after the apprentice. I don't smell any prey. I wonder what he saw? the small tom thought, hurrying after the apprentice. He was half-worried that he might startle some prey that he hadn't detected, but as he lifted his maw, he stiffened, the hair on his hackles rising.
The smell hit his noise the second his pelt brushed the ferns, releasing the pungent odor of fox. "Jasperpaw!" Shrubwhisker called, racing after the apprentice. Much to his horror, he found the apprentice trapped under the fox, hissing bitterly. He hesitated only a moment before lunging at the fox, throwing it off the apprentice. Angrily, Shrubwhisker sunk his teeth into the fox's shoulder, trying to drag it away. It writhed and snapped at him, struggling to get free. It twisted out of his grasp, turning to face his attacker. "Quick! Go get Tumblestep and Stumbleknot!" he gasped, hooking his claws into the fox's ear. It howled in pain, before easily pulling away and swiping at him. Shrubwhisker stumbled back, hissing madly.

Into The Mist Times
April Issue
Site Information~Hello Everyone! This is the fifth Issue of ITM's Monthly News Letter! First off, I'd like to sincerely apologize for the huge delay. Even bigger apologizes for not publishing March's newsletter. I'll do everything in my power so it won't happen again, so please stop by every month to see the new Issues! It will high light key events going on this month and next month so it will keep everyone up dated! Which is good right? Of course!
We will be having an activity check that will go through May (hopefully)! If you miss it somehow, we will give you a second chance sometime after the check. Huge thanks to FireFlyDragon for adopted Pebbletail so we can have our first ever medicine cat meeting! Clan Information~RiverClan and ThunderClan have not launched a full scale attack yet, but border skirmishes are getting intense. WindClan and ShadowClan are awaiting StarClan's advice before making any moves, and both are merely staying on the defensive side until a better decision is made.
ShadowClan is outraged at ThunderClan's recent attack on a few of their warriors. While they recover in the medicine cat den, many warriors are calling for revenge on ThunderClan. Sharpstar is holding down the fort, but how long can he keep his warriors under control?
WindClan is doing rather well. Apprentices are training long and hard with their mentors, prey is plentiful, and there haven't been any recent attacks on their territories. However, the threat of war hasn't completely left their minds.
RiverClan is living extremely well, especially since the river has thawed and is over-flowing with prey. They are a little wary of floods, however. Riverstar's kits are expected any day now, and everyone anxiously awaits them. Cranefeather continues to be in charge during Riverstar's absence.
ThunderClan has finally gotten use to sharing RiverClan territory, and many have silenced their rebellious thoughts. Duskstar continues to be absent from camp, mostly leaving Stumbleknot in charge. No one knows where the deranged tom is off to, but anyone would tell you its no place good. Threads to Watch~ The MEDICINE CAT meeting Again, administrative staff is encouraged to join discussion in The Lair. ~Prone to updates~ Other Important News~ None, at the moment. Again, apologizes for my absence! I hope to increase my activity as the school year begins to wrap up. Keep up the good work, everyone! <3

Skyfire dipped his head in response to Windblaze's greeting. "I'm well, thank you. How about yourself? Is Rippedtail doing alright in the elder's den?" Secretly, Skyfire was a bit more fond of Rippedtail than her apprentice. He knew it was a bit unfair, seeing as he had been medicine cat for about 3 moons before Rippedtail become the medicine cat apprentice, and he knew her long and well. Perhaps when Thornpaw is ready, I shall follow her example and retire. Time has flown by without me realizing, it seems... he thought, perking his ears as a new sound in the still night came to them on the breeze. Oceanstorm, Nimblepaw, and Pebbletail arrived, one after the other, until all the medicine cats from all four Clans had arrived. Being the eldest, Skyfire rose, nodding to the others.
"If no one minds, I'd like to reach Mothermouth as soon as possible tonight. It's the first meeting for all the new apprentices and recently appointed medicine cats, and I'd like to start earlier rather than later." Skyfire paused, waiting for anyone to complain. It seemed that a few of the apprentices were lagging behind, which was unsurprising. "The others can catch up to us. Lets go!" he mewed cheerfully, and with a flick of his tail, Skyfire turned and trotted up the familiar slope, watching the moon slowly rise in the sky.

(Oh, right. Thanks, Windy!)
Skyfire padded quickly through the WindClan moor, the chill breeze stirring his whiskers. Instinct wound him through the endless rises and dips, the Highstones rising like a beacon in front of him. Thornpaw followed a few paces behind, following his mentor through the unfamiliar terrain. Skyfire idly remembered his first time going to a medicine cat meeting, dozens of moons ago. He remembered how strange it felt, winding through WindClan's territory with no mud beneath his paws or fern to brush his pelt. There had been no shadows, no trees. Just the moon, high in the sky, seemingly staring down upon him as he trekked towards Mothermouth. He wanted to talk to Thornpaw about what he was going to see, how StarClan was going to approached them, and the messages they might here, but kept silent, knowing that Thornpaw would learn it all in his own time, through his own experiences.
"We're at the base of the High Stones now. Since it seems we are the first to arrive, we shall sit and wait here for the others, so we can go up together," Skyfire instructed, slowing to a halt where the ground rose steeply. Fluffing out his fur against the night cold, Skyfire wrapped his tail around him, tapping its tip impatiently. Staring out, Skyfire shivered, a shiver of fear and anticipation rather than one of cold. What lies in the future for the Clans? What will StarClan show us tonight about ThunderClan and RiverClan's alliance? Am I right to assume no good will come of it? he wondered, raising his gaze to the pale night sky, dotted with millions of stars.

Shrubwhisker nodded sympathetically at Jasperpaw. He, too, knew what it was like to worry for a littermate. Thunderpaw had been his best friend before the accident. He still remembered that tingling in his tail he got as the patrol came into camp, before they had even shared the grievous news. Gently, he tapped Jasperpaw's shoulder with his tail tip. "If it'll help, we can search for her after we hunt," he offered. The small dark tom increased his pace to keep up with Stumbleknot, who was leading the patrol towards the sunning rocks. The deputy muttered something about being alert, and Shrubwhisker would have noticed the irony of the situation had he been paying attention. Though he lifted his maw to taste the air, he had a feeling that they would not find much prey on this trip. Instead, he allowed himself a few moments to enjoy the weak sunlight and cooling breeze, content.

Shrubwhisker watched Stumbleknot, silently awed by the deputy's quick kill. He nodded respectfully, impressed that Stumbleknot had made a kill so quickly. Raising his maw to the sky, he breathed deep, searching for scents of prey, but there were none to be found. The tom paused, mildly irritated. Stumbleknot and Tumblestep had found so much prey so fast, and Shrubwhisker had not caught anything himself in days. The birds had long since flown away to where ever they went in the leaf-bare, and the smaller prey was still in their hideouts, resisting the weak sunshine that beckoned them. With a sigh, Shrubwhisker trotted after Tumblestep, idly searching the green forest around him with his matching eyes. His tail flicked to the beat of his pawsteps, as brown as the wet mud that sank beneath his paws with every step.

Shrubwhisker sat still beside Tumblestep. If an outsider had glanced at the meeting, they might have thought Shrubwhisker had died sitting there, with him sitting so silent amongst the activity of his clan mates. But his gentle breath gave him away, the way his ears inclined every so slightly back. Shrubwhisker would have no say in this. He had been born and raised in times of peace, unaware of the true faces of war and battle. Sure, he knew how to fight, as every warrior expected to, but he had fallen into the mindset that it was just a precautionary measure to teach apprentices fighting moves at this point. Even Rosethorn had treated their training sessions like she was teaching him how to defend himself from a rogue, not attack another Clan. In his head, he longed for the times of his apprenticeship, back when there had been none of the leaders there were now. Back when Midnightstar lead ThunderClan, the youngest of the leaders, equal to Silverstar of RiverClan in their time guiding their Clans. Silverstar... what had ever happened to her? She seemed like she still had quite a few lives, and was still youthful enough... he wondered.

It doesn't necessarily have to make sense either XD
Like my nicknames. I have Mgii (Pronounced Mig-e), Diane (which isn't even close to my real name... well, actually, yeah, it kinda does if you pronounce it the right way...) X, and Skyscraper. And three out of four don't make sense x3
