Blackear
The war starting up between the clans had hit all cats particularly hard - battles and injuries, hostility and pain... However, he had found some time to slip away, on his own, as he liked it. Of course, he may as well watch the borders while he was out, maybe catch some prey to bring back to the clan. He particularly watched to Windclan border. He was still curious - Shiverpath had shown him that out of clan relationships were possible. He had met their deputy, if only briefly, and a warrior, and it had been hinted that there may have once been a relationship between their warrior and the she-cat Shiver. It was strange, and a small part of him also wanted to see them back in action again, see that tension, that sprint. He wanted to mimic it... To learn their strategy.
He smelled something, rather abruptly. He looked up, parting his jaws slightly to breath in the scent more deeply. It didn't belong to any clan that he could tell - likely a loner. But he was curious... So he followed the scent to the edge of the territory, and saw the edge of a two-leg farm. Maybe there was somebody in there...?

Chill
Chill stretched until her legs trembled. She meditatively did an early morning grooming, then sniffed around the barn for prey or other cats. The barn was open territory and she knew it, but she did like to pretend it was actually hers. She startled a rat hole up behind a hay bale and caught it clumsily- she was still getting acustomed to the extra weight on her belly. She ate her meal in silence, and then slipped out of the door and sniffed the air. She knew cats lived in the forest by the barn, but she never interacted with them. She already had enough problems. She was feeling somewhat confident todday, though, and sniffed up and down a tree well-marked by a cat.

Blackear
The same curious scent that hit him a moment ago hit him again, stronger, as though it were coming in waves. This was definitely a clan-less cat - a she-cat, as far as he could tell, and a queen. But she was dangerously close to Riverclan territory. He'd hate to have to chase off a queen, but, if it was necessary, it was necessary.
He heard a faint rustle in the grass behind him, and flicked his left, white, ear back. His main focus remained, and his short-furred white, black-spotted body tensed, crouching down in the grass, waiting. His black ear remained perked forward, gingerly waiting for an audio proof to his suspicion. His slender white tail twitched, his black front left paw fidgeted to find better ground. He hadn't had much chance - as a warrior, at least - to actually encounter an intruder. As an apprentice, his mentor had been taking him on a border patrol when a cat came in. That wasn't very important at the moment, though. Give them a warning, and if they persist, push back. Violence could be avoided, and often was - but if it were a clan cat, with a purpose, it was likely a fight would break out.
That wasn't important at the moment, though. Really, it was just nice to deal with a cat that he wasn't sure why they were attacking in the first place. Not that he wanted a chat - no, he didn't much like speaking. More that he just wanted something to do. Amber-green eyes focused ahead for any movement. A steady breeze blew, ruffling his fur. And he was prepared.

Chill
Chill sniffed the tree with interest, half-closing her eyes and picturing a cat marking the tree. He was probably a tom, from the scent, and it clearly conveyed the message don't cross me. But Chill wasn't one for rules and proceeded with caution. She picked her way through leaves and sticks, and as a result her progress was slow. Her white paws poked the ground toe first before taking her weight, and her ears turned, sucking in the morning sounds. She kept her tail low and hovering over the ground and her head half-bent. She wasn't scared- goodness, no, she couldn't be scared. That was a strong emotion. She shied from strong emotions. She didn't go very far before slipping up. With her new-found weight she had lost her center of balance, and when she tried to step over a twig she stumbled and her paw landed directly on it. Cursing herself for stepping on the twig, then cursing herself for getting mad at herself for stepping on the twig, she crouched on the bare ground, feeling very uncovered. She waiting until her emotions had returned to their dugeon in the back of her brain, and then she measured up her options. One, turn and run. But that could make her defeated. Two, stand and hope that nothing had heard her. She couldn't do that, though- hope was an emotion. Three, stand. She chose three and waited for anything to pop out at her.OOC: Chill's got a thing about emotions... you'll hear a lot about it. Also, I'm trying to find her color of text. I'm going to save the color here for future reference color=9FFF82

Blackear
He scented the air again, heard the twig, and spotted the cat. He couldn't really put an order to it - it was like instinct. One sense? Not much, but good to work on with effort. Two senses were enough to easily get a position and more information. He was right - a queen. But that didn't matter - she was an intruder. He jumped out in front of her, letting out a feral hiss, one that was the hiss of a clan cat, a warning. 'You're in my territory! it said. It needed no words - which was his specialty.
He certainly hoped that he didn't have to attack her, though. A queen... No, he didn't want to attack her. He would, though, if he had to. To emphasize that, he lay his body close to the ground, haunches tense, tail lashing side to side, and ears flat. It was a position of threat - another thing instinct did mostly, but used often by a clan cat. He'd hate to have been born without a clan.
The breeze shuffled his fur again, the roots of each hair tugging lightly at his skin. His gaze remained focused on the queen in front of him, his paws ready for action.

Chill
With hardly a sound, a cat sprang out in front of Chill. She stopped herself from cringing or feeling fear by drawing back her muzzle a bit. The tom gave a hiss to get the message across, but Chill already knew. She wasn't supposed to be there and was severely dissapionted in herself for not paying attention to the border. A border was a warning, a cat was a second strike, and and if he attacked her it would be the zenith of her stupidity. She controlled herself after this emotional rush and locked down. She drew her head back, showed a bit of her teeth, sank her legs back to her belly and her belly to her haunches until she was a coiled blob. She wasn't sure if she wanted to run or to fight, but she would wait for the tom to make the first move.

Things were going to get awkward if he didn't act soon. Clearly this queen was older than he, but she had no authority over him - he was a clan cat! A warrior! No clan-less rule-free loner was going to order him around! But... He just couldn't bring himself to attack her. It would have been pointless. He could tell that she knew she shouldn't be here, and despite her efforts to hide it, he could tell she was almost frightened by his sudden appearance. He had to admit, she hid it well - there was no fear scent, only a drawing back slightly. It was a kind of emotional internalization that he usually kept to himself. He'd never seen another cat do something similar.
He bared his fangs at the Queen now, a low feline growl emanating from his body as the young tom inched forward. "I don't want to attack you, queen... Leave Riverclan territory now, or you've forced my paw!" He spoke in the growl, lip twitching as he sent out a feigning blow toward her to emphasize his words. She may be older and more experienced, but hopefully she wasn't as trained in fighting as he. He lashed his tail to the left, against the now steady breeze that blew through the grass.

Chill
She crouched a little lower and sized up the tom. He was well-sized and fit, and could probably beat her up if she decided to fight. She calculated her chances with running- if she sprinted now, she might be able to get a ways. But undoubtably this cat would easily catch her after the first hundred feet. She would have to stay and talk her way out. The cat expressed his wishes with a feirce statement concerning her leaving without being harmed, or getting harmed and then leaving. He was clearly proud about something, but Chill was nonplussed as to what it was. Her pride kept her from leaving the scene without an explination, so she said haughtily, "I was just passing through," and waited to see if he'd swallow it.

He really wasn't that impressive a tom - barely twelve moons, more a slim and agile build than a muscular build - at least, by the standards he'd grown up around. He now understood a bit more into why loners and kittypets were viewed in such disdain. They didn't seem to know what was best for them, and seemed soft compared to what he knew... It was curious. What would he be like, had he not been born a clan cat? It didn't matter. No, not now. At her new comment, he crooked the tip of his tail to the side, as if in a question, and tried to retain his stance, shifting the weight on his paws a bit.
"Just passing through? Where? kittypet territory?" He hissed the word kittypet, in disdain, as though he truly hated the word. But he really didn't - no, he hadn't met one, hadn't seen there life. He had no place to judge. "Or even better - Thunderclan? They would have struck already. You wouldn't stand a chance." He hated being this hostile... She was just a queen, who probably didn't know much about the clans in the first place.
It wasn't right, to question the protection of his clan - she could be an excellent fighter for all he knew, and could want to raid the food supply or something. No, he couldn't let her past. It was like a test - but only because he looked too far into things for his own good...

Chill
Chill briefly compared herself to him- apart from being slightly rounder than him, she was smaller in every way- smaller boned, muscled, and featured, and he wasn't even one of the bigger cats she'd seen. Of course, it wasn't hard to be bigger than Chill. She was well undersized. She stopped this interested study of the other cat as quickly as she could and listened as he said some things about "ThunderClan", "kittypets", and her being beaten. Of course, she knew about kittypets, but the river of scorn the word was carried on in his voice was new. She knew little to nothing about ThunderClan, just that it was one of those foreign, forest-cat terms. She shifted and quickly mapped out a route that she could pretend to be traveling. The trouble was that she wasn't familiar with the land outside the barn and a short expanse of land around the barn. "I was coming from there," she said, motioning with her tail to a spot vaguely over the barn "and passing through here to get to that mountain." She randomly selected a form on the horizon and hoped he wouldn't ask why a pregnant she-cat would travel so far. Then she checked herself and swiftly extingusished the hope.

He glanced over in the direction she pointed swiftly, but not long enough for her to attempt to run away. Seeing what she was pointing at, curiosity struck him. "You're going to Highstones? What would you be doing going to Highstones? The only reason that I know that cats go there is to speak with Starclan... Do you know of Starclan?" He had never been to Highstones, but he knew that that was where leaders went to consult Starclan when in trouble, and where medicine cats went at the New Moon for their meeting... Perhaps this cat did know Starclan? He still didn't understand what she would be doing there.
Besides that, she would have to go through Fourtrees, and pass dangerously close to both Thunderclan and Windclan territory... It would be an extremely dangerous trip for a Queen. Maybe there was a reason for her to go that he didn't know about, but he found that slightly unlikely. Perhaps she was just looking for an excuse? He didn't trust it, but his stance softened up a bit. He was getting tired of standing like that.

Chill
Chill listened as the tom rambled on about star clans and high rocks, completely befuddled. However, she knew that she should probably pretend to know what they were. She watched him resettle his position and gave it some thought before answering. She had heard talks of "clans" from loners. There was Thunder clan, Wind clan, Shadow clan, and River clan. The Star clan was a new one to her, although many things about the clans were new to her. So, if Star clan was another clan, then high rocks must be a landmark in their territory. Maybe it was where they exchanged messages- why else would the tom say "speak" with Star clan? She nodded knowledgably, or what she hoped looked knowledgeable. "Yes, I am going to high stones." She wrinkled her tongue. The way she said it was different from the way he did. Maybe it was all one word. "Highstones." Yes, that sounded better. "Star clan and I have important things to discuss." Star clan also sounded funny- maybe it, too, was one word. StarClan.
