OOC; Aghk. I feel so exhausted. Oh wellz - I might as well post before Silver comes by and shoves me into here. xD No fancy style changes here, but I might as well give it a go... Oh - and before I start, I play Larksong, Smokepaw, and Eaglekit. Eaglekit, of course, isn't going to be here, being only a few weeks/moons old. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. Smokepaw couldn't help but to be shoved austerely from here to there and back to here again and again and again - with force, of course. It was his first gathering, and he couldn't decide on what kind of impression the place has on him. The only thing in his mind were 'Ow', 'Oof!' and 'Mouse dung'. He was being toppled over to the point he went agroof. Away he went, and - smack! - landed flat on his face.
Somewhere behind came a familiar, light hearted chuckle. "Well you're sure clumsy tonight," said the voice. The smokey-gray tom looked up. Larksong, his sister, was gazing, amused, down on him with a whimsical glint in her eye.
"Sorry," the apprentice yowled above the cacophony. Before he could say another word, though, he was knocked down yet again by excited squealing ThunderClan apprentices, whom also happened to be at their first Gathering as well as Smokepaw himself. Ow. Ow. Ow. Why did it had to happen to him?
Larksong brushed pelts with him and purred, "Be careful there! You've yet to experience the Fourtrees themselves." She nudged the cat forward, her white & dappled pelt standing out in the dark shades of night.
And there they were - four colossal-sized oaks, towering over all in a regal stance, enveloping Smokepaw with awe. "Amazing, isn't it?" chortled Larksong. Smokepaw just nodded, speechless with wonder, ignoring the massive mob of cats pouring into the clearing.
His first impression? Great.

Sharpfang moved with pride alongside his Leader. His thoughts were all in a whirl, not long before the Gathering, there had been a Clan meeting and he was announced the Deputy. He was! He could hardly believe such a thing to be possible, and yet there he was, moving fluidly and confidantly beside his Leader. He rose his head high as they neared the meeting place, his tail snapping with eager anticipation. He couldn't believe it...
It had made him nervous to leave Nightkit, back at camp, and yet he knew she was safe. They were home at last... He sighed slightly at the thought, but would soon jerk his thoughts back to the present as he stayed glued to Echostar's side. He remembered a Gathering long before this one where something similar happened. He was so determined to impress Echostar then, so he stayed by her at all times, hoping she would pick him as Deputy... And after so much had happened, she finally had! Pride bursted in his chest as he moved beside her, careful not to let his huge paws trip him up, knowing he wanted to make the best impression possible.
Oh and to tell his sister! He was sure she would be here... As far as he knew, she thought he was dead... He had been gone so long and now found his way back... He shivered with delight and would imediately scan the area below looking for his beloved sister. They would have to find a time where they could go off and talk. As far as he knew, the kinship between them was yet unknown to any of the Clans. This bugged him, and the secret was one he didn't wish to keep from Echostar especially... But it wasn't one he felt he could share. He couldn't have his loyalties questioned. He was a loyal ShadowClan cat and would be for the rest of his days.
Finally they reached the Four Oaks, and he scanned the clearing for his sister, but moved after his Leader. He didn't see her anywhere yet, or any of the WindClan cats... Where was WindClan? He sighed slightly and moved to seat himself near Echostar, still scanning the area ever watchfully.
(Has Bluestar led the WindClan cats in?)

(In an effort to keep the Gathering going, I have taken temporary control of Bluestar. She will be put up for adoption after the Gathering.)
Bluestar paused at the edge of the clearing, her ears pricked forward. Quietly, she opened her maw to the night air, allowing the warm scents to hit the scent glands on the roof of her mouth. Last ones to arrive, she thought, almost amusedly. With a flick of her tail, she lead WindClan down to Fourtrees. Several cats turned, or paused in conversation to watch the lean shapes pour into the clearing. Bluestar trotted over to the other leaders. It seems everyone has something to announce tonight... she thought, feeling the air ripple with excitment and anxiesty. Nodding to the other leaders, Bluestar scrambled to the top of the rock, her yowl echoing in the starry night. Suddenly aware of the many eyes that turned to look at her, Bluestar shuffled back, signaling the other leaders to go first.
Rainpelt hurried after Bluestar into the Gathering. She winced inwardly, noticing the small number of cats. Even combining the Clans, there would still be a shortage of warriors, she thought briefly. As she glanced around, she saw few unfamiliar faces. Cautiously, she padded over to a RiverClan tom who sat brooding on the edges of the clearing. "Tell me something. Has RiverClan seen any kits this Greenleaf? Any new apprentices or warriors?" she asked softly. The tom seemed startled by her presence. Pausing, she scanned the clearing. "And where is Silverstar?" she added. Briefly, Rainpelt remembered her time as an apprentice when Silverstar had stepped in for Riddlestar when the leader was mysteriously sick. She prayed to StarClan that Silverstar had not caught it too. She was a good, fair leader, that lead her Clan well. Rainpelt tried to remember when she last saw Silverstar. True, her muzzle was starting to turn a little white, but she seemed strong and sure, annoucning news to all the Clans last Gathering. This puzzled the cream she-cat even further.
Ravenclaw jumped when the sleek WindClan she-cat strolled up to him, unnoticed. Mentally, he scolded himself and tried to pull himself together. However, his mood crumpled again at her questions. "I know why you ask. The Clans are getting smaller and weaker with each passing moon. No, RiverClan has not seen kits in the nursery for some time. As for Silverstar... well, you better listen to Riverfleet," he croaked. A flash of worry and confusion flitted across the she-cats face before it returned to a casual curiousity. "Oh! You're Silverstar's brother!" she cried suddenly. Ravenclaw nodded solemly, saying nothing. The she-cat sat there for a moment longer, studying him, before Bluestar's call brought their attention to the leaders in the center of Fourtrees. Yes... maybe we'll all learn something new tonight.
Rosethorn and Shrubwhisker looked up sharply at Bluestar's call. "'bout time!" Shrubwhisker snorted. Rosethorn silenced him with a flick of her tail. "They must have a good reason to be a little late. Listen, and they might tell us why," she whispered. Shrubwhisker twitched his whiskers, obiendiatly falling silent. Though neither of them said it, and deep unease seemed to stiffle the air, as all the cats looked up curiously at the leaders, seeing new, unfamiliar faces.

( I think ShadowClan is here...? River posted earlier. )
Midnightstar paused, looking up at Bluestar with faint surprise in her eyes. She dipped her head briefly to Shadeclaw and bounded over to the Great Rock, joining Bluestar at the top. "I hope WindClan have been well," she murmured quietly to Bluestar. While she cared about all the clans, she was constantly fretting about Blackclaw's mate Breezefur in WindClan, and the kits. She didn't even know their names, since she hadn't had a chance to speak to Blackclaw. She peered over the rock and saw him weaving through the throng of cats, muttering irritably when a cat barred his way. Midnightstar made a mental note to speak to him later. The kits would almost be six moons, and Midnightstar wanted to see them before they were announced as apprentices. "I believe Riverfleet has some important news for us? she mewed, raising a single eyebrow. She was curious about the lack of Silverstar's presence, and was sure she wasn't the only one.
Blackclaw hissed in annoyance as another cat stood in his way. He shouldered her to the side, pushing past with a low growl. The she-cat growled back, narrowing her eyes dangerously as Blackclaw hurried off. He wanted to be right in Midnightstar's line of sight, like he was every gathering, to give her the courage she needed to speak. She had once confided in him how nervous she still was when she had to speak to all of the clans, and it helped when she could watch Blackclaw. Pretend he was the only one there. Blackclaw winced as a cat angrily batted at his tail, but he continued on until he broke out into a less crowded area right in front of the Great Rock. Blackclaw looked up at Midnightstar and blinked reassuringly, seeing her visibly relax. The things I do to be a good brother...
Sandfoot growled back at the tom trying to push past her, narrowing her eyes, but he left hastily, as if he was in a hurry to see someone. "No manners these days..." she muttered. "Rude toms, mouse-brained kits, don't know how to treat an elder with respect..." The cat at her side responded with a fond purr of amusement.
"Sandfoot, he was in a hurry. He didn't mean anything by it," Rippedtail said gently, smiling inwardly at the she-cat's temper, which had been even worse since she'd gone to live in the elder's den. "You shouldn't even be here. You're too old for this, but you're just so stubborn. And don't you even start again with your complaints about the elder den. Whether you believe it or not, your time of service is over, you crazy old loon." She looked fondly at the old she-cat as she only continued to grumble irritably. Rippedtail shook her head and sighed, looking up as she waited for one of the leaders to speak.

r i v e r f l e e t , Cherynobyltoxin& friends.
Can I pose a question how do you kill what is dead? I just shoot from the hip, And aim for the head He used to be your friend But that was another life With this single bullet, We're gonna blow his mind.
"Me? Oh, yeah, certaintly." Riverfleet answered Midnightstar. "Silverstar was killed by rogues, and we tried to save her, but she died."
The deputy lied. Haven't you noticed that Midnightstar? You fool. She thought bitterly. "Oh, and prey's been okay lately." Of course, that was true, but, the problem was, she didn't like lying in the first place, but she had to do it unless she decided to blow both Cranefeather and her cover. Now she had to spend an eternity in the dark forest, isolated, in a cold, lonely place, unless she was reincarnated. Riverfleet's breath came out like smoke infront of her face. Greenleaf was wasting away now, and with that, the coldness grew colder. Although she liked snow, she didn't like having numb paws. Waiting for an answer, she let out another icey breath. She needed to focus, but for some odd reason, her attention was always on something else. As much as she wanted to, she wouldn't focus. Riverfleet looked down at the rock. The marks from older generation still lingered, well preserved. They were quite interesting. She shivered. Was it getting colder? The silence felt wierd against her ears. Despite the slight movements, it was still very quiet. Riverfleet's nose twitched. Actually, she rather enjoyed the silence. The wind blowed in the direction of the cats on the ground. The moon was still a round disk in the sky, with no disruptions. It gave off a fat, yet beautiful stream of white light, large enough for everyone to see eachother. Right now, she was nervous. One wrong word, and everyone would know that Cranefeather and Riverfleet killed Silverstar. They'd be in trouble. BIG trouble. As Riverfleet sat there, she thought it'd be fun to get hurt in the middle of the gathering. Not that she would do it, she just thought it. She flicked her tail. Her mind was a collage of thoughts. Maybe if she tried to erase them, she'd be able to focus. Cherynobyltoxin glanced at Riverfleet, whom she knew was lost in her thoughts. The WindClan medicine cat apprentice walked torwards Cherynobyltoxin, feeling out of place, being that she was the only cat standing up right now. She sat down next to the RiverClan cat, fully aware that Bluestar wasn't there yet. Shadowrain, who was already on the other side of Cherynobyltoxin, nodded her head at Windblaze. Spottedstorm was already infront of Shadowrain. The black she-cat locked eyes with Riverfleet, who looked exactly like each-other, just one of them had silver eyes. Riverfleet didn't exactly see whom she was looking at, just yellow eyes. Cherynobyltoxin and Shadowrain exchanged glances and then both snickered. Windblaze stood up once more to move to where the medicine cats and their apprentices sat at every gathering. She sighed, still feeling a bit out of place. Spottedstorm squared her shoulders impatiently. "When's this gonna begin?" She asked, twisting her head as far back as she could so she could make eye contact with Shadowrain. " I think it already did, I don't know. " She then turned her head back to it former position so she could see the leaders incase the gathering already began. Riverfleet's silver eyes scanned the ground. Her nose twitched again, as she glanced at Cranefeather. Got anything to say? She thought to herself, although she wanted ask him. She wasn't go to anyways. Not while she was infront of nearly all four clans. It was too risky. She let out one more icy breath. The sky began to collect clouds no where near the moon, as if StarClan threatened to cover it. How clever, but Riverfleet--let's call her Riverstar for a moment-- Riverstar wouldn't let that happen. So what would she do about it? She knew. If the sky showed signs that it'd cover the moon, then she'd yell as hard as she could make everyone be quiet. ooc|| This post was huuuuugggee. ;3 [/blockquote][/blockquote] [/blockquote]

Cranefeather scented the air. Finally. The other Clans had arrived. What was with these other leaders? They were so slow... Yes, it was definitely for the better that he and Riverfleet would take over the forest. He almost started grinning - totally out of character for this usually solemn cat. But he was so excited! He and Riverfleet were so close to starting the wars! The blood, the screams... His mind jumped back to the fight with Silverstar. The monster that had sprung out of him,the bloodthirsty demon... He shuddered. The memory hurt. Bluestar's loud yowl jerked him back to present day. What?! She was calling the meeting? That was his and Riverfleet's job! He glared at the ground. Wait. It was probably better that he didn't go first... In fact, better that they go last. After all, the leaders woul have already had theirturn, and couldn't complain. He chuckled. "Riverfleet!" he called, bounding up to her. "Go last," he whispered in her ear. He nodded at Midnightstar, who was standing near her, and went back to his original place at the base of the rock.
The night was crisp as Spicefur ran beside his Clanmates. He relished the feel of his muscles tensing and relaxing in a steady pattern as he ran. Eventually he could scent the other cats - their foresty, musky smells were strange, yet familiar at the same time. Bluestar halted. He skidded to a stop at her side. ThunderClan and RiverClan had arrived. He glanced behind him to try and spot Greenheart, but then the cats around him were moving and he ran down to the clearing with them. He trotted after Bluestar to sit at the base of the Great Rock. He sat down, and waiting for everything to start.

( I think ShadowClan is here...? River posted earlier. ) (Oh. She did XD Whoops. Ignore me then <3) Bluestar nodded at Midnightstar, suddenly shy. She dipped her head gratefully. "Thank you for your concern," she purred. Nodding, Midnightstar then turned to Riverfleet. The she-cat's lazy reply made Bluestar stiffen in shock. Killed by rouges? she thought in disbelief. However, it was the deputy's second comment that really threw her off. I suppose Riverfleet really justs wants to move on, and do whats best for her Clan instead of grieving, she thought, but she couldn't help but feel unsettled by Riverfleet's breezy response. She opened her maw to speak, but a white tom hurried up to Riverfleet-- Riverstar now, and quickly whispered in her ear before melting back into the crowd. That must be RiverClan's new deputy... breaking away from her thoughts, she looked at the other leaders. "Would any of you care to share first? Midnightstar, Riverfleet? Would either of you like to start?" she asked, hoping to sound polite and respectful instead of nervous.
Rainpelt's eyes caught a dark shape, and she whipped her head around to see who was speaking during the leader's reports. She let her fur lie flat when she noticed that is was Blackclaw, the ShadowClan warrior. Despite her mistrust of the tom, she quietly sneaked up besides him, tapping him lightly on the shoulder with her tail. "Breezefur might not be able to attend the next Gathering, but the kits might come with their new mentors," she hissed softly. As much as she hated the idea that WindClan's most recent litter of kits were half ShadowClan, she felt obliged to Breezefur as a friend to give her kit's father some news when she herself couldn't. Rainpelt fluffled up her fur, trying to keep out the chill that came with the wind. At least they'll all be apprentices before leaf-fall comes...

Midnightstar's bright yellow eyes widened at Riverfleet's casual response. "Killed?" she spluttered, losing her cool for a moment. With a quiet cough, she straightened up and dipped her head to the she-cat. "I mourn for your loss," she said softly. She hadn't been close to Silverstar, but she had held great respect for the she-cat. "I hope these rogues will not become a problem," she added, glancing at Riverfleet one last time before fixing her gaze on Blackclaw.
Blackclaw's tail curled up in delight at the thought of seeing his kits. "Thank you, Rainpelt," he said softly. "Stormkit is well. She's a handful at times, too curious for her own good. Please tell Breezefur this, and that I love her." His tail drooped slightly and his eyes were half-lidded as he heaved a sigh. "I need to speak to her. I don't know how much we'll tell the kits... Stormkit already asks about her mother all the time." He sighed again and returned his sister's gaze, almost frightened by the intensity. What's wrong with her? he thought.

"No. I'm going last."
Riverfleet spoke, trying to match Bluestar's politeness. It wasn't going to be any use being nice later. She snickered, as quiet as possible. "What about you, Midnightstar?" She asked, flicking her tail. She squared her shoulders. This should be easy. She thought, glancing down at Cranefeather once more. She was going to the moonstone, tonight right? Well probably not, because It would most likely be late by then. And Riverfleet probably wouldn't be able to stay awake long enough. The black she-cat blinked. Cranefeather could feel eyes on his back. He whipped around and saw Bluestar staring after him, before looking away. Frowing, he turned back to where he was, hoping no cats would attempt to speak to him. Hopefully his size and irritated expression would keep them away.
Aw, this was so exciting! Spicefur padded around the clearing, craning his neck to see where Bluestar was. He saw the familiar colour of her pelt and trotted over to her. Midnightstar, ThunderClan's leader, and Riverfleet, RiverClan's newest leader, were sitting near her. That was funny - he'd never noticed all the leaders were female before. "Hello, Bluestar, Midnightstar, Riverfleet, he greeted, dipping his head in the customary gesture. He settled next to Bluestar, trying to look attentive but really paying attention to the snippets on conversation he could pick up with his sensitive ears. "Gonna begin... She's a handful..." Hearing nothing interesting, Spicefur began paying attention to the leader's conversation, his ginger fur ruffling in the light breeze.

Bluestar shifted uneasily, noticing no one volunteered to go first. Whispers began to echo in the clearing. Summoning up her strength, she stepped forward. Instantly, it was silent, waiting for her to speak. Licking her whisker nervously, Bluestar began. "WindClan is doing better than expected," she paused, twitching her ears. "Breezefur's kits have almost reached their sixth moon, and are ready to become apprentices. The rabbits the run through the moorland are still plentiful, despite the cold winds." Here, Bluestar hesitated. She had another announcement, but she was not sure how the Clans, especially her own, would handle it. "I have recently named Spicefur as my deputy, and am proud to have him sit with me tonight. Despite this recent change, I have full confidence in him...which is why I announce my retirement. My eyes are not what they used to be, and I feel that Spicefur could lead WindClan better than a blind old cat. I will join the elders in their den, and will be there if any problems arise," she finished. Stepping back, she could almost feel the release of breath as the clearing of cats gasped. Though she couldn't see the shock on their faces, she knew how surprising this news must be, especially when you considered her age. She nodded to Midnightstar, indicating her to report next.
Rainpelt nodded. She hadn't realized how difficult it must be for Blackclaw, unable to see his kits nor his mate, while at the same time trying to explain the situation to Stormkit, not yet an apprentice. "I will tell Breezefur," she whispered, slinking away just as Bluestar began to speak. She only half listened, until she caught Spicefur's name. She paused, and yowled in shock and dismay. Bluestar was retiring? She had not spoken of this to the Clan! Rainpelt settled, hoping to hear more, but Bluestar had stepped back already.
Shrubwhisker glanced at Rosethorn. "Retiring?" he whispered, "She hardly looks older than me!" Rosethorn nodded. "It is unusual for a leader to retire like that. But these days, no cat is behaving like they should," she responded. Though Rosethorn seemed enraptured by the leaders, Shrubwhisker felt a pickle of unease. No cat is behaving like they should. Shrubwhisker glanced around at the cats, all sleek and plump, but so few of them, and the unfamiliar faces that now lead the Clans. Rosethorn is right. Something is off here.
Skyfire looked up at Starpelt, glittering in the sky. A few whispy clouds hovered near the moon, but none covered its light completely. Oh StarClan, he thought, what do you have in plan for the leaders of the forest? What will become of the Clans?
Blackclaw, like Skyfire, was watching the sky, hardly listening to Bluestar give her report. Can you see us from up there, sister? Do you wish you were down here still? After all, you should be up there. You have every right to be up there, announcing RiverClan's news, he thought sadly. For a brief moment, a star shone brightly, as if telling Ravenclaw that his sister had heard him. He dropped his dull gaze to the leaders, and nearly leaped out of his fur. Silverstar's sleek grey form was twining her way between the leaders, pausing now and then to glance his way. His amber eyes flicked about, but it appeared no one saw the silvery she-cat. He quickly returned his attention to his sister. She had reached Riverfleet, but instead of affectionatly twining around her like she had the other leaders, Silverstar sat bristling at the she-cat. Ravenclaw blinked, but suddenly she was gone. What was that? Does Silverstar not like Riverfleet?
((Cranefeather- Could you take temporary control of Echostar? Just so ShadowClan has someone to report))

[Sure, Silver! Oh, this post will be fun!]
Spicefur watched respectfully as Bluestar stepped forward to speak. He wasn't nervous, there was nothing bad to report. The bird of prey he and Greenheart discovered had left their territory, so all was fine there. He listened patiently, but not really that interested. He nodded his head as Bluestar announced that he was deputy... But then he froze. "I have full confidence in him...which is why I announce my retirement. My eyes are not what they used to be, and I feel that Spicefur could lead WindClan better than a blind old cat. I will join the elders in their den, and will be there if any problems arise," Bluestar announced. What?! His eyes widened in shock. He was just as surprised as every other cat in the clearing. What did he have to do now? He could see cat's faces swivelling to stare at him curiously. Probably wondering who he was. He hadn't been deputy for long at all, and already all this responsibility was being pressed upon him! He chose to stay silent though, but nodded graciously to Bluestar, trying to keep the absolute shock off his face.
Echostar was listening to Bluestar's speech, paying close attention for any wavering in her voice. To see if she was lying. But then, she annouced something that shocked Echostar. She was retiring? Already? And that new deputy of hers, Spicefur, was already going to become leader? Although, Echostar couldn't really talk. She, too, has recently been thinking of retiring. She had been deputy for even shorter than Spicefur when she had become leader. And she didn't like it at all. The pressing responsibility, the constant worry... Well, if tonight was the night for big shocks, Echostar wanted to add her own surprise. She stepped forwards. "Congratulations, Spicefur," she said warmly, nodding at the tom. He still had an amusing, shocked expression on his face. "ShadowClan are doing well. Prey is running very well, and two of our missing cats, Sharpfang and Nightkit, have returned. I'm sure some of you know that Sharpfang is our deputy now." She paused, inhaling deeply. "I, too, have an announcement. I was forced into this position so quickly that I never got a chance to think about it. Being a leader is not the path StarClan had planned for me. I, too, am retiring. Shapfang will become ShadowClan's new leader." Once the mews of shock had calmed down, she stepped back, indicating she was finished. The accusing glares she was getting... She could hear whispers everywhere. Her breathing rate increased. Could they stop looking?! She couldn't take it. She padded through the crowd. Cats willingly moved out of her way. Then, she turned tail and fled back to camp, running as fast a she could.
Cranefeather scowled at Spicefur. What?! How come he got to be leader, while he, Cranefeather, had to stay as a lousy deputy? Because... he forced himself to think it. Riverstar had taken his position. Now... he knew why she irritated him so, some days. e was jealous of her. He frowned, thinking to himself as Echostar stepped forwards. He was barely listening, too lost in his own thoughts. But he had that prickling feeling that something else big was about to happen, so he forced himself out of the dark thoughts and payed attention. What?! Echostar was retiring too? Well... This was excellent. Two just-made deputys now in charge of their Clan. WindClan and ShadowClan would be in chaos! So easy to take over... And once he'd taken over them, the three united Clans would turn on ThunderClan and kick their sorry behinds. He grinned.

Riverfleet sighed. This would be great. She had to live a life of lies, and even if she had a long life, she'd be miserable. She couldn't do this. She felt guilty, wanted to yell out to Silverstar that she was sorry. She wanted to kill herself. But right now, she had to focus. That would be very difficult. Riverfleet barely scowled at the thought, although she wanted to contort her face in such a way that it looked like she was furious, but that wouldn't help-- it would most likely just make others stare at her in confusion.
